Good spot for sushi in Charlottetown. Good portions for the price. Enjoy the dynamite role with the salmon in it.

Sushi is my favorite food, ate it daily when living out west. When my clients and I choose to dine out, I have suggested sushi, and given this spot quite a few chances. Unfortunately, I have always been disappointed, and felt responsible for the experience. A lot of people are foreign to the idea of sushi, so this is a hard sell in the first place. I have learned to make my own sushi to indulge my cravings, but I really wish one of these sushi spots would take a chance and step up to aim for excellence. While the service was attentive (remember you have to ring the bell), they ignored any requests. The waitress would bring the request to the owners attention, he would frown, shake his head and request ignored, terrible. Vancouver has some of the best sushi in the world, their portions are larger, the quality MUCH higher, and prices MUCH lower. Good ol' PEI highest prices in Canada for so many commodities. The food was average at best. The maki was small, and the fish was barely there. Salmon maki was shredded and mixed with a sauce. My suggestion: lower your prices by at least 30%, increase your portions (especially what is inside the roll, or on top of the sushi rice) never charge extra for ginger or wasabi (how cheap is that), include miso and tea with every meal. Best tip: do an All-u-can eat, two days per week, so you can learn how to do it and maybe offer it daily in the future. This will bring in a bunch of new customers, not just for you, but the sushi experience overall. This will give them a chance to sample may different dishes. Study how they do it in Vancouver. Include all of your maki, nigiri, limited sashimi, teriyaki, tempura, special dishes, miso soup, tea, etc. Make a check off list, and make to order. Be generous, and serve like you are hosting family in your home, and make the price reasonable ($12lunch, $15dinner). You will be amazed at the response, and your profit. Business 101, you are paying for overhead anyway, and have stock with a shelf life...fill the seats, get money flowing through the till. Worst/best thing you will need more staff. Islanders love to eat out, and our population blows up to over 1million in the summer, no other place like it. Be the best in the east, and the word will spread, stop the mediocrity. Good luck and Good eating.
