Converted barracks! So although there is lots of "room", (we had a two-room/family "suite"), it is far from a "suite" in the true sense of the word.

But for the most part, it is clean and we needed something that wasn't too far from the Confederation Bridge since we were arriving at night.

It is definitely the right price but you somewhat get what you pay for - not luxurious or homey in any way but will do well for one night if you plan to arrive late, leave early.

My family and I travelled to PEI for the first time this July. All I can say is definitely a beautiful province! For Canadians it is great to experience our own country. We didn't know what to look for when searching for a hotel, so I chose a place within a short drive from the confederation bridge. We chose an old army barracks just 5 mins outside of Summerside PEI. We needed a hotel that fit our family of 5, with one of the children being 18mths. We got a family room, that is two seperate rooms with the bathroom and microwave in the section in between. It was perfect for us, because we could hang out in the one room when the baby was going to sleep. The rooms are clean, the hallways are adequately cleaned. The staff was friendly, the restaurant on site is really good and fair prices. We walked around a bit in the area, not a lot to see but lots of areas to walk. Overall we would definitely go back to the Slemon.

Being a Military family, you could definately tell we were in renovated barracks! Two rooms with a kitchenette & bathroom. Nothing to complain about except there was only one flat pillow each and the coffee maker didn't work. Minor, certainly not a reason not to stay there again!
My beef was with the dining room staff! Included in the price of the room(s), was a continental breakfast. Well.........where to start!! The sign at the door clearly states "please wait to be seated" so, that's what we did. After about 10mins of being ignored, my husband had to track down a waitress who informed us to seat ourselves!!!! Why couldn't they tell us that every time they walked past us?? There were no cleared tables so we sat at a table and waited another 10 mins before she came to remove all the dirty dishes. Once she found out we there there for the "free breakfast" we were pretty much ignored as we weren't worth her time (no tip!!). She never came back with cups or utensils so we had to use paper cups for coffee & juice and a stir stick to cut our muffin and butter our toast!! The breakfast area had not been restocked while we were there and the choices were pretty meager. We didn't even bother going back the next day!!

Room Tip: Don't bother with the Continental breakfast. Not worth the aggravation.

We stayed in the family room in the Malpeque building of the Slemon park motel. Old CFB barracks converted to motel rooms. This was the perfect place for us and had two rooms with a small narrow hallway connecting the rooms with bathroom and small kitchen in middle. Was very clean and comfortable. Parking was a bit far away and no elevator so lugging up luggage and children was a bit difficult. They did accept pets and the rooms were tidy and spacious with desks in each room. Good value for price.

We stayed here during the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. It was about 30 minutes away but a nice spot. We had a two bedroom unit with an additional cot. Room had a galley type kitchen area with a stove, sink, microwave and coffee maker. Continental breakfast each morning with great pastries, yogurt, cereal, toast, fruit, juice, tea and coffee. We would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in early June. The room was clean, tidy, and quiet. The staff was friendly and capable. The restaurant was quite good, with prompt and friendly service, though very busy one evening. Not a fancy place but very satisfactory, for the price.
We would come back to stay there.

Didn't realize when booking this hotel that these are the converted barracks of the old Canadian Forces Base. The place was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was ok. The food and service were good, but it has all the intimacy of a bowling alley. The rooms are in a couple of buildings. We were in Malpeque 1. At $87 per night, that was about what it is worth. Watched a tube TV for the first time in years.
