We spent 3 nights here in July. We really liked the house, which is in a wonderful neighborhood on a tree-lined one-way street. We had a very large room on the 3rd floor and shared a bathroom, which was also large and spotless. The breakfasts were great too. We walked everywhere, but there is also a metro station nearby. Lots of really good restaurants, too. Our hosts were very knowledgeable about restaurants.

The strength of this B&B is its location. Just a couple blocks from the Sherbrooke metro station at the edge of the Plateau neighborhood, it's easy to reach all the sights by metro and for those looking for a bit more exercise, a pleasant enough walk all the way down the hill to Old Montreal. The inn itself is adequate, with clean and fairly spacious rooms, especially those on the front of the house (though they also have shared bathrooms). Breakfast (served at your choice of 8 or 9 a.m.) was delicious. There is no common space or parlor in the house other than the dining room, so it is more a place for those who don't plan to spend much time at the inn. Hosts Yves and Ephraim were very pleasant, although their chattiness and ubiquity at breakfast would not be to every guest's liking. All in all, this was an economical and positive option. (Note: If you have luggage, it would be wisest to take a cab from the Central Bus Station (Gare d'Autobuses). It's just a few dollars and saves you a maze of metro stairs or a hike up a steep hill.)

Room Tip: If you don't mind the shared bathrooms, the rooms on the front of the house are much larger and...

Pros: The location is AMAZING! Close to the Metro, excellent shopping and eating (SO much to eat). The house is beautiful and very well kept. Our room and bathroom were spotless. We had a small balcony which we enjoyed very much.

Cons: I'm a light sleeper and had a hard time sleeping with the window air conditioner on (we were there in July). It is a house so we could hear noise above us and below, and not all the guest kept the same schedule.

The owners are definitely unique characters and are very helpful and accommodating.

Room Tip: To avoid some of the noise perhaps request a room on the top floor.

The title says it all! Gingerbread Manor B&B is located very conveniently near downtown Montreal, with easy access to various attractions. It's a charming, late 19th-century house renovated into a comfortable B&B. They also have daily housekeeping. It was a bit tricky to get our mid-sized SUV into the indoor parking, but the instructions given by the owner made it easier. Our hosts, Ephraim and Yves, were welcoming and friendly. Breakfasts were delicious and abundant. Definitely will go back next time I'm in Montreal.

Wonderful location on a quiet street on the Plateau, close to Metro and Rue St-Denis. We chose a very small room, but it has a balcony we made good use of. (In the winter you might want to book one of the larger rooms, as there isn't an interior common space.) Wireless access was seamless. The shared bathroom is spacious, well lighted, and immaculate. Breakfasts were ample and delicious. The hosts are attentive and helpful, and went above and beyond when it came to garaging our car. We'd happily return.

Staying here was an absolute pleasure. The room we stayed in was enormous with a street facing view. Overall a very charming place. The hosts Ephraim & Yves were excellent. They helped me out with parking, they provided tips and suggestions on what to do, and provided an outstanding breakfast every morning. The location was perfect, we were able to explore a good portion of the city.

I will definitely be coming back soon!
