“A fine breakfast in a charming place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2013

This great little cafe serves a wonderful brunch that ranges from the simple to the splendid. Nicely priced, good coffee (strong, straight American style or great espresso/cappucino).

Friendly service, fresh ingredients, comfortable atmosphere in a great neighborhood.
We were brought here by friends who live in Montreal, who come regularly, so it gets a bonus tip from the locals!

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 December 2012

If you have all you have time for is just one place for a meal out during your stay in Montreal, this should probably be on your shortlist. Set amidst small shops along the quieter Laurier Street (just off of Papineau), Les Entretiens is a charming and cozy traditional bistro and must be among the top picks in all of Montreal. Best off, the food is as delicious as the atmosphere is charming.
My companion and I started off with the cheese plate and shrimp dumplings. I like cheese, but the shrimp dumplings were by far the best I have ever had. We had the duck and pork medallions for our mains, and I was so stuffed that I could not even finish. The staff was wonderful - cheerfully translating the few words on the menu that we couldn`t figure out and being attentive without intruding.

Check hipster minimalism at the door - I`d suggest Les Entretiens if you are after the quintessential traditional bistro experience.

“A cafe with a soul”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2012

Why go?
- The plateau is full of cafés and bistros, but a lot of them lack a real atmosphere, character, personality, soul, call it whatever you want. Well, Les entretiens has it.
- It is located right in that jewel of a neighborhood called 'Le petit Laurier'. A charming, slightly off-the-beaten-track part of the Plateau.
- For the music.
- The food is good. Slightly higher end food would suit the charm of the place very well, but then I suppose the idea is not to be too expensive a place.

What can be improved:
- The wine list. Definitely. It does not hurt to have a few good bottles. Please.
- Remove the 'Please let us find a seat for you ' sign at the entrance. As you walk in it almost dispels the charm of the place and makes you feel you just stepped in a Pizza Hut.

“Typical Plateau eats, very good and friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2012 via mobile

I actually live a block away from this great little gem and first found it when i was apartment hunting in the area.

The food is fresh and tasty and i love that the portions are just perfect. After having supper and lunch here, i actually fell in love with their breakfasts.

Must check it out day or night. Great location as well, fun day walking Laurier street could be topped off with a visit here

“Fabulous place for dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2012

It's a great place to spend your evening. My boyfriend took a salmon salad and I took a salad with cheese and both were probably the best salads we've tried in Canada. Vibes here are nice and evenings life music is pleasant. I would definitely come back again.
