“French onion soup and quichelorraine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

We stumbled upon marche le villette on our walk in old Montreal and was taken back by the ambience of the environment inside ..it was full and we got the last table for 2 for an unplanned lunch
The service was slow but the restaurant was busy , very understandable and with a quick comparison to Paris it won hands down .the atmosphere was lively and once our order was taken our order of French onion soup and the quiche was delivered in a timely manner
Wifi was not available broken was our response to that question
Anyhow we still enjoyed the good food and service and would recommend to fellow travellers

“No complaints from us”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013 via mobile

We did not read the reviews before lunching, and im glad we didnt! We had the french onion soup and quiche loraine, very filling and enjoyable. The vibe of the place, the decor and the tight space between tables just made it more authentic. I don't know why others gave this place such low ratings, we loved it, the service and smiles from staff came our way .

“Cheese fondue and baguette brunch worth repeat visits”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

Really friendly staff, Quebecois and European ambience, music, energy and vibe - fun midday food place in beautiful old Montreal. Very busy and staff is stretched but worth repeat visits! Deli style with good cheeses and sandwiches for take out if staying nearby.

“A bummer of a meal to end a great trip to Montreal”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

We went for lunch at Marche de la Villette because we were tight on time and there were no other restaurants open in Vieux Montreal. The food was okay, but not great, the service was terrible, and the atmosphere - while lively - was fairly shabby. We waited more than an hour for our food after ordering. Also, given the not-great food, and the run-down interior, we were surprised by the high price when we went to the deli counter to pay. We had had an otherwise lovely weekend in Montreal, and this restaurant experience put a fairly negative spin on things at the end of it.

“PLEASE DONT GO THERE”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

The experience overall was just not pleasant. The service was okay, as almost none of the waitor spoke english. One of the waitress tried really hard, and was very nice, but she just gave up, and left us to the other waitor who was really impatient. None of them did a good job explaining the menu, to the point that when we order we dont know what we are doing exactly.
The food was really bad, the cassoulet really sucked, it tasted like canned, or they just poured ketchup on the beans and hems.
they cost was not even close to the taste. the only thing that kept me from giving them a 1 is the fact that the decor was quite nice, cozy, frenchy, and cute
I would DEFINITELY NOT recommand this
