“Fantastic experience”

This hotel compliments the character of "old montreal" perfectly. Situated along the river and only a few steps from the "main drag" of the historic Vieux Port, the hotel is located in an authentic historic building. Original interior stone walls create a warm and charming atmosphere -setting the tone for a cozy and relaxing get-away.

It was about a five minute walk to the subway station and, after touring Montreal for a couple of days, I would not be able to suggest a better location as a base for exploring this city.

The room was spacious and clean and well appointed. There were exposed beams and brick which gave the room an historic feel that was in keeping with the rest of the building. Some of the furnishings were not quite at the five star level but the overall quality of the decor was excellent. I had a huge king bed with one of the most comfortable mattresses I have slept on. The bathroom was very well appointed and was finished with natural stone and marble features.

The size of the hotel was perfect-small enough to capture the essence of my idea of "boutique" yet large enough to support sufficient staffing and amenities. The restaurant and gastropub which is separated but accessible through the lobby served excellent food and was a wonderful social gathering place.

The best part of the stay was the staff. All were warm and welcoming. The check in was efficient and the entire crew was friendly and enthusiastic. The outstanding concierge skills of the front desk helped me to make the most of my short stay. All the staff was kind enough to encourage and help me with my attempts to speak French, although they were of course perfectly fluent in both languages!

I will definitely stay at this hotel the next time I visit Montreal. I especially recommend it to those who seek to get in touch with the local history and culture.

Room Tip: I believe I had one of the larger King suites. It measured almost 500 square feet and was well worth...

My husband and I had a wonderful four-night stay at the Auberge du Vieux-Port. We opted for a Superior King facing the street, and were very pleased with the choice. The room decor was cozy yet chic, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly, without being overbearing. And the breakfast in the pub each morning was great. My only complaint was about the noise outside the window. Not terrible, but distracting enough to keep me up a bit on weekend evenings. Otherwise, this was a superlative experience.

Room Tip: It's worth spending extra to reserve a river-facing room. The street-facing rooms come with some...

We were truly impressed with all of the Staff here at the Auberge de Vieux-Port. We were greeted by Matthew, who was so kind and friendly. He made our arrival memorable. Sylvia, Laurie & Veronica were the most informative and enthusiastic front desk associates I have ever dealt with. They were able to answer every question of ours. The "River-view" room was definitely comfortable and well kept. The only downside was that it was a bit small (smaller then the photos displayed on their website). If you are looking for a comfortable stay in old Montreal, this is the place to stay. We would also like to thank all of the staff who made our stay so pleasant.

I stay in Montreal from time to time and there are a lot of good hotels in Old Montreal. In my opinion what set this property apart was the staff. I really do not get into a lot of special requests. However I found the staff very responsive to my needs and expectations, without being overbearing or making things uncomfortable. I had a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here for a second time following a cruise from Boston. The staff was wonderful and our room very spacious and very quiet given the hardwood floors! The bathroom was huge.
This is the only place we have stayed in Montreal and would do it again when we are next there.

We stayed at this hotel in August. Let me just say that the staff was amazing. We reached there the night before our reservation but they were booked. Oliver at the front desk tried helping us get a room at another hotel for the night - this is called great customer service! Hotel is located in a very nice part of Montreal not too far from the downtown area. Great restaurants around the hotel. Room reservation included breakfast. Choclate croissants and made to order breakfast from the menu was icing on the cake. We had a great stay there. Rene and Veronica at the front desk were very helpful with city tour recommendations. Giving it a 4 star because of a small glitch while we stayed there - our room was decent (not great) and the jacuzzi tub did not work. They have a roof top deck restaurant which looked nice.

Room Tip: Get a room with the waterfront view and away from the elevator.

From the moment we checked in, we were treated like old friends returning. Max the bellman greeted us with a big smile. Sylvia and her partner (sorry didn't write her name down) were wonderful in giving suggestions, maps, and assisting in a dinner reservation for that evening. Our room #201 was gorgeous and the bed is to die for, big beautiful windows that opened to the view and street below, spotless! We headed down for cocktails at Gaspar ( the restaurant that is adjacent) before our trip to see the light show at Notre Dame Basiica. As a side note, don't miss this show, I thought it might be kooky, but it was fantastic, covering the history of Montreal and how the Basilica came to be. In hindsight, we should have just had dinner at Gaspar. Daniel hooked us up with oysters he was shucking and freshly made mingnet (?)sauce, great cheese board and cocktails. Slept like babies in the comfortable bed. The breakfast included the next
morning was a wonderful selection and for a small upgrade to specialty dishes. We stopped by the concierge desk and spoke with Michael, who helped us with suggestions for our day. The housekeeping staff was patient as we took the late check-out offered. All of staff - were great. I would travel back to Montreal just to stay here again and enjoy the city. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, you might want to be away from the elevator, not an issue for us though.
