Impeccable in every way. Had NO idea the attached restaurant was a five star dining experience. Room and amenities were of the highest quality. The roads were being repaired with cobblestones entry was difficult. Should be OK now. ENJOY

We just returned from another truly memorable 3 night retreat at Hotel Bonaparte. Choosing to stay at this hotel is a no-brainer for us and it is easy to see why it has so many repeat guests. With that being said, travelers should be aware that there is major construction going on in Montreal (Pont Champlain) and also in front of the hotel. The current construction prevented us from being able to turn onto Rue Saint-Francois Xavier and park in front of the hotel to unload baggage. With some clever and unorthodox twists and turns, my BF landed us in the parking lot that the hotel uses further up the street. I would strongly recommend calling the hotel prior to your arrival date and asking the concierge for a status update regarding the construction as it is ever changing and beyond the hotel's control. Once inside Hotel Bonaparte, the welcoming smiles of the staff and complimentary glass of bubbly will make you forget the construction woes.

We had a superior room on the 5th floor which had a perfect view of Notre Dame Basilica. While we have been spoiled on prior visits by staying in Room 501 (with private terrace), we found Room 505 to be tastefully appointed with a charm all its own. I would request this room again. Loved the gleaming black and while tiled bathroom and the overall décor and feel of the room. Being able to open the full length French windows and have fresh air and beautiful natural lighting come into the room was an added perk.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and was delicious and served in an elegant setting. The bright and energetic servers made certain your day started off in the best possible manner. We also had dinner each evening at Restaurant Bonaparte which served phenomenal French cuisine in the most relaxed and romantic atmosphere. We spent 2-3 unhurried hours at each meal and our servers (Yannick and Clement) were professional gentlemen who made dining there a real pleasure. Make reservations early even if you are a guest of the hotel as the restaurant is wildly popular in Old Montreal.

On this trip we had the good fortune of meeting the owner of Hotel Bonaparte who was a lively and engaging conversationalist. He has created a real gem in Old Montreal and like every other staff member that we have met, he does everything to make certain his guests have a fabulous stay. We are already planning our next trip!

Room tip: Rooms on the 5th floor on the courtyard side are fantastic (501, 503, 505, or 507). Excellent views and are far removed from street noise.

This was our base for exploring Montreal. Although there are a number of boutique hotels within a block or two of Hotel Bonaparte, it's hard to imagine how any of them could offer more than we enjoyed here. The beds have memory foam mattresses. Our room (#301) offered an unbeatable view of the towers of the Basilica, foregrounded with trees in autumn color. Breakfast, served by a very friendly staff and included in the room tariff, is splendid. We spent an hour or two one sunny afternoon with a glass of wine on the small rooftop terrace. Place d'Armes Metro stop is about five minutes' walk. The Centaur Theatre (plays in English) is immediately next door. Most of the other clientele appeared to be in their 60s-70s. The concierge can sell you tickets to the museums, Jardin Botanique, and other sites.

Wow, what a great boutique hotel. The receptionist was so friendly and helpful when we arrived that we were already sold. When we saw our huge room with the tasteful decor we were completely wowed. Great location and enjoyable stay in this lovely city.

Room tip: The one we had at the back was very quiet

Bonaparte is a historic boutique hotel in the heart of Old Montreal that is 2 1/2 blocks away from the cruise ship port, 2 blocks from Basilica Notre Dame and near several art galleries, boutique and souvenir shops, as well as many quaint eateries.

The rooms have a vintage touch with a spash of modern style. Beds are very comfortable and our room was very quiet.

The reception desk personnel was attentive and friendly.

Their quaint restaurant has a scrumptious menu.

What I was most totally impressed by is, Luc (at reception desk) walked our luggage to the cruise terminal with us the next day! What a bonus and thank you so much!!!

I will be sure to stay at Bonaparte the next time I am in Montreal. To all cruisers out there, Bonaparte is an ideal hotel to start your cruise vacation from! You won’t be disappointed!

Room tip: A room facing the courtyard is very quiet.
