Upon first seeing the Oratory, you can't help but be impressed by the sheer size of the Church. The hundreds of stairs leading to the top could be a little intimidating but we drove around to the side entrance where there was lots of parking and a great spot to start exploring with Brother Andre's original church and residence. There are many amazing areas of this church, from the huge candle room, with crutches lining the walls, to the tomb of Saint Andre and his heart, to the history of the building of Saint Joseph's Oratory, to the crypt for Masses.
A must see when visiting Montreal.

While there are many steps to climb the visit to the Oratory is worth the effort. The views of Montreal from the top are excellent. While the oratory itself lacks the majesty of European churches it is still a beautiful place to visit.

Visited this site twice as I'd gone in the wrong door and missed "the crutches". What an awe inspiring experience. I was truly moved by the history of Brother Andre and his devotion to St. Joseph. The oratory is beautiful, peaceful, and sacred.

It is an impressive building overlooking Montreal. Nice architecture, lovely views from the top. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. Worth a visit.
