Bit out of the way but worth making the effort to go & see; stunning building inside & out but a bit of a hike up from the road even if you aren’t on your knees like the devoted. Restaurant is basic, good for a coffee but not lunch

I remember visiting 17 years ago and wanted to go back.

There is some construction work happening in the grounds which took away some of the serenity.

This is a free church to enter and you can get some great views across the citt on a clear day.

Although over 100 years old, it is very modern inside, however not ornate like the Notre Dame in the old city.

They have a room on the lower level with 10,000 candles that you pay to light. We always do this in memory of family. However, it was very odd to see church staff removing candles on a trolley that were still lit. Given the purpose people light them for, this felt somewahy disrespectful.

The building is breathtaking with its imposing size. Great views from the top overlooking the city and gardens. The inside is very modern and unique. For those who don’t want to do the many stairs, there are elevators and escalators inside. With the construction, might be a bit hard to find but there for sure after first set of stairs. The Oratory is Not to be missed. Also easy to get to by Snowden metro and the 51 bus across the street from metro station.

...and one of the largest domes in the world. This isn’t an old-style gothic church like you’d expect to see in Europe—it’s a modernized version thereof. Lots to look at. Also a nice view of Montréal from the balcony. If you have time and energy, walk the historic steps up; if not, there’s a free shuttle that’ll take you right to the main entrance.

This place is HUGE, and well worth a visit. It is a little way out of town, but there is a Metro Station not far away. Once inside it really is beautiful with so much history. A must do.
