Owner description: Located on Ile Notre-Dame, the 4.361 km-long Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve hosts the Grand Prix du Canada, as well as biking, in-line skating, jogging and walking enthusiasts! PARTIAL CLOSURE The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be partially closed to cyclists, pedestrians and inline skates enthusiasts from May 15 to September 4, 2017 due to the mounting, the hosting and demounting of major events, to maintenance work done on the circuit in preparation for the Grand Prix du Canada, and to the STM bus circuit to Jean-Dore beach. This partial closure means two things: • The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be accessible to cyclists, pedestrians and inline skates enthusiasts for only 43 non consecutive days this summer, from May 15 to September 4, 2017. Visite the Parc Jean-Drapeau website for the detailed schedule. • A portion of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the "Hairpin" area, will be inaccessible at all time time from May 15 to September 4, 2017.

When not being used for a race this track is very accessible to pedestrians, cyclists, roller bladders and even cars, albeit at slow speeds! Great way to get to fully appreciate this Formula One race
circuit if you are a fan. I have cycled it several times following the race line wherever possible. Portions of the track are blocked for two way traffic during normal times. In the fall the walk through the surrounding park is very pleasant.

It's nice that you can drive on this circuit and feel it. Free access (that if you don't get a fine for over speeding - 30 km/h speed limit)

I'd heard you could drive around the Formula 1 circuit so we took the drive over (very conveniently located beside the casino where we had dropped some family members off) and took a "slow" (20 speed limit) around the track, photos at the Start/Finish and got to take in all of the turns and feel the road surfaces. Of course, I'm sure the place is a zoo around the annual race but if you've ever wanted to actually drive on a race track, you can't beat a free drive around.

The track is easy to get to on the Metro and is located on one of 2 beautiful islands in the middle of the St Lawrence (see our other review). The sights and sounds and smells of F1 should be experienced once in your life by anyone who has ever longed race a car around at high speeds. There are crowded party areas and other areas you can be almost alone, depending on what you want. The track is great with very high speed straights and good slow corners for viewing - hairpin at east end is best for that. Blow the dough once and enjoy the richest sport in the world !!!

The Circuit is shared by cyclists and rollerbladers alike, and offers a great scenary in a wonderful Island. Easy to access thanks to the metro station close by and lots of parking spaces. Enjoy a ride on this popular and crowdy road made for F1 and hosting lots of events!
