I walked up the 300 steps in the heat to the top of Mount Royal and around the longer footpath at the top. The view from the top of Montreal was excellent and worth the effort. The café at the top just sold coffee and pastries and only had sparkling water on a hot day. There were some water fountains but hard to fill up a bottle.

A Great Park to visit for peaceful moments and relaxing as well. Great for family gathering as well and a nice couple outing surrounded by nature and different kinds of people having in common the desire to spend great moments with friends and family members... why not a sunbathing moments
Couples, bring your sandwiches your carpet or small chairs and enjoy the view, if it’s Sunday you will experience the best Tam-tam show in Montreal

Cheers to all and always enjoy your Outings

We drove our car up the east entrance and parked by Maison Smith around 5 PM. We paid for the parking, and we were glad we did; other cars had tickets on their windshields when we came back.
We followed the crushed stone trail to the Chalet du Mont Royal and loved the views of the city. We hung out there, took pictures, ate some picnic. We then went up the trail to the Croix du Mont Royal and circled back to the Chalet. It's moderately hilly, and the trail is wide and well packed crushed stone. I used my motor assist (Smart Drive) for the hills.
Then we headed back to the Maison Smith, and went past it to find the Lac aux Castors, strolling around the lake, and then headed back to our car. We were there for a a few hours, just taking it easy and enjoying the late afternoon/early evening light. Even if you only had a short window if time, it's worth driving up and doing the short trail to the Chalet for the view of the city. The best (and really only view we saw) is from the Chalet.

It's lovely to see all of the locals who daily frequent this park. The paths are well-maintained, and we especially loved the Belvedere with the hammocks!
