Owner description: Called the Sailors' Church because of the wooden ship models that hang from its ceiling, this church was originally designed by Marguerite Bougeoys, one of Montreal's first teachers. Next to the Chapel, the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum ($) presents fascinating stories/accounts and significant objects to showcase the life and work of Marguerite Bourgeoys, Montréal's first teacher. Visitors can explore the 18th-century stone crypt and climb the tower to admire a stunning view of the St. Lawrence, Old Montréal and downtown. The archaeological site, opened in 1998, has witnessed more than 2,400 years of history. In addition to its permanent exhibition spaces, the Museum offers a variety of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities, along with school programs.

“Famous Notre Dame Church”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Beautiful church! Wish I had time to go inside but I've seen pictures of it. WOW, outside is a nice area where people go to sit and view the beauty around them. The bells rang out each day.

“Quaint chapel”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Lit a candle for our dearly departed and enjoyed the stained glass beauty. Not a grand basilica, but worth a stop for a moment of reflection.

“Beautiful and Peaceful!!!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

This chapel is beautiful and peaceful. The view from the top is unreal!! The model ship inside add character to this "Sailor's Church". Also, the grave of a saint ~ Marguerite Bourgeoys is located inside this church.

“First time attending a Gala at a historical church”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

I did not realize this was the location for a gala I was attending through work. It was the most beautiful evening I have ever had. The rent the space out for different events. We had it catered by the Cheateau Frontenac and Live singers for entertainment. The space was beautiful with lavish details.

“Great Views from the tower”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We visited this Chappell whilst heading for the Canada day celebrations in old Montreal. It had a very interesting museum showing the early life in Montreal.Although the Chapel is free to walk around At a very resonable price you can walk around the museum. To get some great views of Montreal walk up the many steps to the viewing points.
