“Good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2012

I stayed here four nights and found the room clean and comfortable, although the bathroom was a little cold. Staff are friendly, breakfast is ok, but it starts too late (0830). The location is great, less than 5 mins to the metro or 10 mins to the main intercity bus depot. If you like walking it is easy to get to downtown and the surrounding area has some nice places to eat and drink.

I stayed here overnight en route Ottawa. You are pretty much paying for the location. All in one morning, my boyfriend and visited the Old Montreal, Chinatown and St. Denis (a street with restaurants) walking. The rooms are very minimal. Yes there are two flights of stairs if you get the room on the third floor, but if you have a carry on it is pretty manageable. The bed was really comfortable that my boyfriend and I missed breakfast. Couple of tips:

1. Note that only one person would be able to log on the wi-fi at the same time in one room.
2. Giovanni (one of the owners) is very helpful. Ask him for directions and ways to get around.
3. The reception desk has limited hours, call in advance and tell them the exact time you will be arriving so they will be able to open doors for you. Once you are in, you'll get security codes to get inside.
4. They only have soap. Be sure to get toiletries in advance (There is a bodega-like place right next door, and there is a big pharmacy right down the street).

If you are looking for luxurious hotel experience, this is not the place for you. If you are on a budget, need to get to places and a solid bed to sleep, Hotel Stay Centre Ville will suffice all your needs.

I left my toiletry bag with glasses and an electric shaver. They said they had it, would send it to me and email me afterwards. Never happened. Its been 4 weeks now and every time I call it either goes to voicemail, they say to call back or simply leave me on hold until the call drops, only to not answer when I call back immediately after.

The two guys that run this place WILL ROB YOU.

We really loved our stay at Hotel Stay Centre Ville. The location is fantastic, with shops and bars in the immediate locality and the metro only one block away. We were also getting a greyhound bus to our next destination and were delighted to find this also only one block away.

Our room was lovely, all white and clean like a boutique hotel. The bed was comfortable, and we had a little balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom was clean and functional, with good water pressure in the shower.

The breakfast was ok - self-service croissants and jam and pastries in a tiny room. Basic but enough to keep you going.

The best thing about this hotel for us was how friendly the owners were. We arrived stressed out after a long journey and a hotel mix-up and David really made us feel welcome and made us laugh! He's very funny. Both owners were helpful and accomodating. I would definitely recommed this hotel as for the same price you can end up at a really horrible place (as we discovered via the hotel mix-up).

This was a room with bare essentials. It was convenienly located to the underground and would have beeen a reasonable plece if I just payed the rate advertised, but with the failure to return the $50 deposit it was too expensive for what we got. I called the hotel many times but they insisted they issued a credit but were unable to provide the transaction 3 to prove they did it, which according to my credit card company they did not. VERY DISSAPPOINTING end to an other wise pleasant trip. HOTELS.com were NO HELP even though we booked through them.

Room Tip: If you want luxury or honesty this is not the place

my girl and i stayed here in jan 2011. we were met by a nice guy who seemed helpful, but it does seem like a family business, not a big hotel with strict protocol. no problem. bathroom/show down the hall. water was hot, plenty of heat in the building. location was truly ideal, price was great. we felt so very lucky to find this place. room was small but clean.

Location is pretty good. Very close to a metro station that covers most of the city. Some really good places to eat nearby too. Hotel is cute. Our room was nice, but the bed felt very small. Our room was very hot on the first night and we could not leave the door open as there was no cover and there were no windows to let fresh air in. After the first night the AC was ok. Small fridge was handy. Breakfast room is very small. We grabbed ours and ate it in our bedroom. Selection of breakfast was pretty good. We managed easily without knowing French too.
