“Excellent accommodations with a great locale”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

We recently stayed here with our young daughter who needed a crib. The staff could not have been more pleasant or accommodating. The room was excellent with plenty of space and well maintained.

I would say the biggest plus to this hotel is the location, easy to walk throughout the Plateau and the Metro stop that is right across the street is huge. We come to Montreal every few years or so and this was our first stay in Chateau; I think we've found or go to hotel for our future trips!

We recently stayed here while visiting a friend in Montreal. The hotel is right by a subway which is handy but also close enough to a lot of the main streets that you can just walk. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were lovely and spacious and the beds very comfortable, we had a room with a whirlpool bath which was cool. Breakfast was included and you had the typical options which were all lovely. Really good value for money and thoroughly enjoyed visit and stay.

We were looking for a safe, clean hotel in a central location and were delighted to find l'Argoat. This is a well run hotel that is across the street from the metro station and within walking distance of Old Montreal and the attractions on rue St. Denis.
The staff are very nice and will lend you bottle openers and ice buckets etc if you need them.
The hotel was quiet while we were there, no problems with hearing noise from the street. The hotel is pet friendly and we did hear a dog barking for a while one morning but it wasn't terribly loud and didn't last long.
Our room was nice, we had a queen bed with a whirlpool tub. The room was very nice, the only negative thing I could comment on would be that there were several spots of mold noticeable on the bathroom ceiling above the shower. If you have severe mold allergies than this could be a problem.
The breakfasts are delicious, my favorites are the chocolate pastries!
We would definitely stay here again.

Bonjour,

Thank you for having written these comments. We remedied the problem ; actually there were a few tracks of molds on the ceiling. We are very watchful concerning the cleanliness of our hotel, this room will have escaped our notice and we wish to apologize for any inconveniences.

We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you again at the hotel,

Best regards,

Gilles / Manager

This conveniently located, clean and comfortable hotel also offers free parking, which is an extremely helpful feature. The hotel has been beautifully restored and was impeccably clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is in a short walking distance to many restaurants however we also walked to Mount Royal Park in one direction and on a different day in the other direction to old Montreal. Our room was on the third floor, which required walking up two flights of stairs. There is no elevator. Our room was spacious and had two large windows, that we were able to open for fresh air. Our stay at this hotel was in January, and the room was comfortably warm without needing to use the heat. Highly recommend it.

This hotel is in the traditional old house style which means that the rooms are decorated differently. There is no elevator so you have to be comfortable with stairs.
You also have to be comfortable with handing your car keys over to the front desk too if you wish to park there as all the cars are parked in front of each other. So if you arrive early and need to leave early, leave some time as the cars are three deep and it will take some time to move them out!

We booked a room at the very top of the house and it was very quiet and a really good size. It was a little hot up there even though we had no heating on.

I think it is really good value for money as you get a good room with free parking and a breakfast.
The hotel is also right next to the metro station which is great.

An old but well maintained hotel, a surprisingly good find in the somewhat shabby part of Montreal, walking distance from the "Latin Qtr" and the "Old Montreal"...both of which are unattractive parts of this big city. Streets and buildings in the area are run-down and littered. Street people fill doorways and beggers throughout. Some good restaurants in amongst fast-food places. Returning to the hotel is a pleasant relief. The overall score is lower because if the narrow "non" lobby, registering through a window into a littered office and the quite limited offering in the breakfast area. But that said, a clean, safe place. Basic rooms are quite Spartan, but clean. There may be better rooms (apparently represented on the brochure).

Room Tip: The rooms offered for the basic price are far below attractiveness of that which is displayed in the...

I was looking for a place to spend a night with my mom, as we were in Montreal for only a day, and this turned out to be a great find. As many have mentioned, it's a quick walk to the Metro, there's free parking and efficient service. The layout of the room was great (there were two rooms and, while I do enjoy my mother's company, a little privacy is nice). I was a bit concerned that being right in front of the street and so close to the front desk that sleeping might be an issue, but it was surprisingly quiet (there was some early morning clanking outside, and some noise from the small dining area until I realized there was a second door I could shut that blocked that out. My mother said she was woken up at 3AM by some people that turned out to be on the stairwell right next to her room, but no problems after that.) The breakfast was continental, but enough to fuel you up (carb-heavy, of course), with nice service from the staff. I will definitely look into staying here again (however, if you don't like the coziness of this type of lodging, you may want to seek elsewhere).

Room Tip: We got a basic double which, as I mentioned, was next to the street. There were also more expensive...
