“This hotel met our needs!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

This hotel met our needs to be in Montreal and close to the metro. The room we had was big and I liked having a living room and small kitchen. It wasn't fancy and yes, there were holes in the cabinet holding the TV but it wasn't that bad. I expected a real dump according to some of the reviews here. It wasn't. The room had a balcony which faced an ugly alleyway and other balconies but I liked the idea of another fire exit. The roof top was amazing - the view terrific - and the pool on the roof was also a plus. Breakfast was adequate. The area was charming and the metro really close. One street away, was everything you could possibly need. Convenient, adequate and the price was right. The front desk people were very nice and the parking was close and convenient.

Room Tip: Perhaps a room with the balcony facing the main street.

The good- View, which is okay at best. It is breathtaking at night but in the day time it's just okay (was on the 15th floor). Going to the roof they had a pool, balcony with an outstanding view, laundry room, and an exercise room. Check in was fairly quick

The Bad- Wifi was full bars but was slow, didn't work most of the time, and constantly disconnected/barely worked. Hotel staff were okay, but there was usually only one staff on duty at busy times. Asked for the updated room in the picture, got an old room.

The ugly- The room had so many tripping hazards. I found myself tripping on very small differences in the floor height resulting in many stubbed toes. The room had cracked walls, the television had a nasty scratch, and the drawer in the kitchen was not on a track and would fall. The balcony had a low railing and didn't feel stable. You could look into the other rooms just by leaning on the balcony. Pool room had a really horrid smell. Beer bottles were littered on the patio. I asked for an updated room and they didn't deliver.

Room Tip: Higher floors have nicer views.

First off, parking is a challenge. Next, the rooms are shabby. The elevators lack maintenance. The staff have bad command of English or they just detest serving people who do not speak French. I had difficulty requesting for 2 additional pillow. They simply refused to accede to the request. Seriously, not worth patronizing.

I had a stopover in Montreal having come in from the Sivananda Yoga Spa, in Val Morin en route to Toronto by Via Rail.
I found this place through Hotels.com. after booking. I took a 10 min cab to the hotel.
The receptionist was most friendly and congenial.
The room was large and spacious even though the colour scheme could have been brighter and the view, better.
The hotel on the other hand was just walking distance from the fine arts museum. the museum had a fantastic Faberge exhibition and was delightful although a more affluent looking family was allowed to jump the queue, and i was completely lost in the museum..
But the exhibition turned out to be fascinating once I found the right room.
The fantastic thing about the walk back was the scores of cafeterias and coffee shops on the way.
There was a TV with several channels, a fridge, a cooker, a microwave, lots of crockery and cutlery, in addition to a sofa desk and dining table.
ideal for a small family wanting to save in eating out.
since check out was 12 noon i was able to have a really exhilarating swim in the heated pool.
The checkout lady was just as congenial and arranged for secure storage of my luggage for a few hours

Room Tip: ask for a room higher up with a city view

Normally do not bother to write reviews but I do not want anyone else to get financially shafted by this horrible hotel. First off, no where does it state that an extra guest in your room after 10:00PM will result in an $80 charge to your debit/credit card. That means that NO ONE, not even for a cup of coffee will be aloud in a room YOU ARE PAYING FOR after 10PM without forking over $80. Other hotels will charge you a max of $10 but Belvedere? $80. Second, don't bother buying their WiFi if you are above the 12th floor because you will NOT get any signal. Third, the hotel staff is horrible. I had to call the front desk numerous times because the people in the hotel next to us were partying till 3:00AM and it reeked of weed. (This hotel is a hotspot for brainless partygoers.) yet the staff never made any attempt to quiet them down. I highly suggest the Marriott up the street, at least there you know what you are paying for!!

Room Tip: DO NOT book a room above the 12th floor, you will not get any WiFi signal. MAKE SURE your room is no...

We stayed at this place during one week in July when the hotel was full of youth and it seems they all were smoking weed. Even though smoking is strictly prohibited at the hotel you could smell the weed everywhere. The place has the advantage that you can open the windows and every room has its own balcony. Unfortunately there are big airconditioning devices (outside the hotel) on either side, which makes you doubt whether to sleep with the window open or to succumb to the noise of the rooms own AC. The rooms were fairly clean and they are on the way to refurbish all rooms yet there is still a long way to go. Maintenance of the installations is quite an issue and could be widely improved.
Might go back there simply for the price as all hotels are quite expensive in Montréal - and normally you can't open the windows or have a balcony...

Room Tip: First we had a split-level room at the back and then changed to a "separate bedroom" suite...

Great location. Within walking distance to major spots like Bell Center, St. Catherine St, Restaurant and grocery store.
Underground parking with in/out privilege available and reasonable priced.
Room had a kitchen-great for long stays. Very spacious. Would stay again.
