My newly-refurbished room was beautiful, with a balcony and a view (hotel rooms are on floors 7 and 8). Look for sales on their website. Friendly reception, incompetent concierge, OK breakfast.

We stayed here a year after inauguration in 1977, when it was new. 34 years later, with all the rooms and common areas refurbished, this hotel still looks as if it has just been built. The quality of the rooms are equal to any five star hotel and the meals, served by an eager-to-please staff, are excellently prepared with portions that leave you fully satisfied. We have stayed at two other hotels in downtown Montreal, both five-star, yet neither gives a greater value than the Institut.

Stayed here for a night, booked online with the hotel-$144.00- it's a little more than I wanted to spend but included a king bed and a hot breakfast.
Beds are great, super comfy! Bathroom is fine, shower head could be replaced.
There is a nespresso coffee maker (which sold me when choosing on where to stay on mtl) is great, but you only get two pods, after that they are $2.10 each.... I suggest bringing your own if staying for a while.
Breakfast was great, I had an omlette with croissants, fruit and yoghurt.
Parking is $19/day, and not too many spots... Good luck.
One more thing, having a balcony was awesome, enjoyed my coffee in the morning out there.
Overall, highly recommend and would stay here again.

I booked this hotel based on great reviews here and we were not disappointed. Actually, it was even better than what we expected. The rooms are clean, modern and beautiful. Our balcony was great and we had an amazing view of the city. The beds were super comfy. Breakfast was included in our room rate. It was delicious! The portions were on the small side, however, everything was tasty. The service from front desk to at the table was very good. The location couldn't be any better. I highly recommend this hotel.

I have been a client since inauguration in 1976. After a much needed renovation a few years ago, it is still a secret for most people. Conveniently located above the subway station Sherbrooke means that I do not need a car to go around Montreal, I use the metro to be in the office district in 5-10 minutes. I like free WI-FI internet in the room and free omelette for breakfast. Free sunset on the north side. No room service. No smoking in public areas. Only 40 rooms. No pool.

Great value for the 2 nights I stayed here last month. My sister and I had a room w/2 queen beds and my mom had a room w/a king bed. Loved the bathroom - it had a clean European look and I loved the small tiles on the floor. The room had a safe (no extra charge for usage). Only 2 floors have rooms for guests. The other floors are teaching floors for the students. Breakfast is included and it's more than just a continental bkfast. You order off the menu and can also get fruit, croissants, yogurt, etc... The staff was extremely professional. Parking is under the hotel. Lots of ethnic restaurants (French, Lebanese, Greek, Spanish...) within walking distance. Prices for meals are reasonable, too.
