If you're looking for value and close to the nightlife, here it is. But if you want to sleep sound or open the window at night, or perhaps have a car, you might want to think again about this hotel. The reception was very polite, internet worked fine and the coffee wasn't even bad, but you have to carry your mufffin and coffee back up to the room. The walls are old and thin and the doorknob just spun around.

It is gross!! It was a very dirty room. Sanitation questionable. Pest issues likely. Did not eat breakfast but it did not look great. Near adult entertainment. Worst hotel I have stayed in. In need of major renos. Did not feel very secure. Highly recommend staying somewhere else.

Seemed too good to be true and it was. Location is great, but there are also many other hotels on the same block with similar prices and much better value - we were so happy we moved to Hotel Montreal Espace Confort just a few doors down. At Hotel du Manior St Denis, we just had an overall feeling of yuckiness and uncleanliness. Walls are paper thin, good luck if you're next to a room with kids or drunks. Rooms are not thoroughly cleaned between guests - there was trash left on the table from previous person. Calls were supposed to be free, but were not. There was no bathmat. Strange things that just make you wish you'd gone somewhere else. Staff helpfulness varied widely - some lied to your face and ignored you and some were more sincere.

Don't bother with breakfast - microwaved croissants are not worth it, go to Tim Hortons or Starbucks down the street.

Room Tip: Something not facing St Denis Street (noisy!)

We come yearly to Montreal for our anniversary and this is the nicest place to stay in. Great friendly staff, the location can not be beaten, great value for your money, very safe and secure. I only wish the room showers were a bit bigger and an elevator to the third floor (and i am just being picky).

Clean: Linens changed daily, all surfaces neat and tidied. Yes, the carpet has seen better days, but what do I care?

Helpful: Spoke in both French (which I need to practice) and English to us. Let me borrow a wine opener. Talked to me in the morning about the news in the day's paper. When I asked where I could buy a map, the man just gave me a map. We had an extra $7 charge on our bill (no biggie, we knew about it, etc.) and as we were checking out the guy just waived it off. Their continental breakfast is pastries, juice and coffee which you can take on a tray back to your room and then just leave the tray outside your door. One morning my husband went down and they were down to their last pastry and the guy offered to run out and buy some more.

Quiet: This may not be the case for every room. Ours did not face St.-Denis, was high up, and we stayed on a Sunday and a Monday night. But not a peep did we hear.

Room Tip: Room 36 was very quiet.

The room we stayed in was clean.. ish. The rooms were definitely smoked in because there was a lingering odour, but that may have been coming from the underwear that was left on the towel rack in the bathroom. So they clearly don't clean the rooms all too thoroughly. The area is good if you want to be close to shopping, bars and restaurants, however, there were squeegee kids across the street, and no parking. A colourful experience.

Its an old gloomy smelly property you do not feel like entering. I booked it a cheap price of 49 dollars but the hotel required a prepayment which I had to make before even seing the room. I understand why: once I saw the room I felt like leaving. The hotel was old and gloomy. Rooms smell mould. To disguise it the hotel turned on a very strong ventilation (which could not be controlled from inside the room). It did not help the mould smell but the room freezing. I tried to sleep at night but could not due to continuous noise coming from the street. Finally after 2 days I moved to another hotel which was clean and comfortable for the same price. My prepayment has never been reimbursed.
