“Wonderful Experience From Beginning to End”
Reviewed 4 October 2011

My husband and I were so glad for so much great info. from the reviews on this site when we were planning the most important mini vacation that we've had in many years to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We stayed 3 nights and it felt like a real home away from home.

Many reviews we'd read were full of accurate and useful information (we took our sedan rather than our crossover vehicle in order to fit into the parking garage and were glad we did.

Our own experiences were never disappointing at L'Appartement from the moment we pulled up to the welcoming attractive front. We were looking for comfort, value and a bit of romance. Here was a place where we could feel that we were spoiling ourselves without the guilt of overspending on needless extras. No valet parking, no bell hop to carry our baggage to both demand tips; $$ that we so carefully budgeted for our get away.

The cozy lobby had a touch of class feel to it, but if you're looking for up to the moment, trendy stylish glam, it might not be your best bet. If you're looking for comfortable, clean, style with friendly service, this is your place. Tired it is most certainly not.

Our first impression was only enhanced by arriving at our room that had been upgraded to a suite from the studio that we had paid for. What a lovely surprise and we scored a balcony along with the extra space on the 14th floor with a nice view and windows that open for lovely fall fresh air. Although previous posters have commented that the bathroom fan didn't work (which is true) I was impressed with its cleanliness and I'm pretty picky when it comes to hotel bathrooms.

I'm a little claustrophobic so initially it took a bit of getting used to being in the kitchenette and bathroom that were both pretty tiny, but "small" price to pay for such conveniences. It is rare to find both a continental breakfast and wireless internet at no extra charge.

The staff were always friendly, helpful and inconspicuous. As we were a little into each other on a romantic getaway, the staff were there when we needed any thing but never really obvious which was nice.

The location was simply perfect and we walked absolutely everywhere we needed to go. Close to Mont Royal, the Plateau, Old Montreal, Crescent Street, St.Catherine's. I can't imagine a better location.

Only one tiny issue which was totally out of control of the hotel management, had to do with outside, really loud, construction noises beginning at 7:30am. Not something that a week end guest would experience, but a fan in the bedroom or nearby bathroom may have helped to drown out the noise.

The cherry on top of the wonderful treat, was the roof top patio and pool. On my first morning, it felt like such decadence to work out on the bike, do a few laps and relax on the patio which was so tastefully decorated with lovely, colourful planters.

All that said, upon paying our bill, the best surprise was no surprise. All too often the prices quoted differ so much from the end charges, but the bill was exactly as it should have been.

We agree that any time we return to Montreal as a couple or as a family, we will most certainly not be staying any where but L'Appartement.

Thank you for a lovely and memorable time.

My husband and I stayed at the HotelAppartement from August 31 tthrough September 17, 2011. It was our third trip in Montreal but the first time to reserve at your hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a good quality/price hotel in a perfect location, a professional and friendly staff, and a clean hotel (with the exception of the carpet and kitchen floor covering). We would recommend it spontaneously to anyone.

Room Tip: The higher floors could have some advantages; we were pleased with the 12th floor giving north

I stay at this hotel on a regular basis, as I visit Montreal 2-3 times a year for business. Good location on Sherbrooke, you can easily walk to the subway, or drive to the highway.
The hotel is great, the "apartment" style with kitchen, living room, is very convenient.
Personnel is always friendly. There's a swimming pool / gym on 16th or 17th floor which is great, too.

You can have breakfast buffet on the first floor. Great choice, and pretty good food. The only "con" is if you stay there during vacation period: The breakfast room is too small to accomodate a sufficient number of people at the same time; so, in addition to kids shouting and running everywhere, etc. (mostly families stay there) people almost fight to get a table and to reach the buffet before you (someone once took my table, and through away my tray, while I just went to get more coffee; and she wouldn't go away!!!).
So, for breakfast, you'd better wake up extra-early, or do expect some pretty nasty behaviour!

The hotel has a parking, but ceiling is super low, so if you drive anything but an economy car, you'll have to go park at the Delta Hotel one block down. It's not more expensive than parking on site, you get the in&out 24hr pass each day, just a little less convenient.

Overall the hotel is great. Price is not too high, especially with internet and breakfast included. I will definitely stay there again.

We rented a 2 bedroom apartment for 3 nights over the labor day weekend. We were 2 couples and 2 kids. The staff was courteous with helping us move in the luggage.

The apartment was clean, roomy and the kitchen well stocked with basic utensils.
Our apartment was located on the 14th floor of the Rue Sherbrook, which is one of the main streets with a good view of the city below and the mount royal ahead.

The only slight disappointment was that the balcony faced a rather rundown looking neighborhood near McGill University. A front facing balcony may have been nicer.

The hotel is within 10 min walking distance of the train station and for the entire 3 days we never had to drive. The breakfast buffet is very comprehensive and they allow you to take it up to the room which is great if you are short on time like we were.

In the end, the manager even gave an additional discount for AAA membership that was not published when we first booked the room.

On the whole the stay was very pleasant and convenient.

We went to Montreal on Labour day weekend, We stayed two nights in this hotel and I would say that hotel front staff desk was very helpful in making our stay comfortable and gave us the best guidance and advises. Rooms were very comfortable and clean, we received a free upgrade and you will love the location.

We were two couples and one infant 11 months old, we had a wonderful time in Montreal. If we go back again we would stay in same hotel.

Thanks Michael for the nice hospitality !!

A fantastic five minute walk to St. Catherine Street where many of the major stores and restaurants are located.
They ran out of parking spaces when we checked in late at night, so we had to park across the street at the Delta. We booked 3 suites between 12 people. The 2 bedroom suites were quite large with 2 separate queen beds, and a sofa bed in the living area. AC was available in the main living area and one of the bedrooms, however the 2nd bedroom only had a noisy fan. If the door was closed AC could not cool the occupants down in that 2nd bedroom. Bathroom facilities was large enough, but no exhaust fan. So when the steam seeps out from a hot shower, it would set off the fire alarm which was a nuisance. Dining table and kitchen facilities came in handy. Room was clean, but dated, however fully functional for our needs.

Pluses:
Free WiFi
cable TV in living area and 1st bedroom.
Continental breakfast (however we did not partake in)
5 minute walk to St. Catherine Street
Swimming pool looked refreshing
Fantastic roof top patio (other end of the swimming pool) overlooking Montreal
Balcony for our suite.
Pharmacy/Convenience store connected beside the hotel.

Could of done better:
The 7AM false fire alarm in the building that caused an evacuation
Hotel parking was on a one way street, so you have to do a long circle to get back out on to Sherbrooke.
A couple of harmless homeless people were sleeping just outside the hotel entrance. Not a bother, but was a little surprised.
