“Family friendly, close to MWS Language Camp”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

My husband, two children, and I stayed here for a week so the kids could attend the MWS camp. Camp (located in McGill's New Residence Hall building) was a 10 min walk away. If you stay one week, you can take advantage of a discount. We were a 5 min walk from two different metro stops. The Juste pour rire festival was 2 min walk from the hotel, providing limitless entertainment for the kids. Great restaurants (Bouillon Bilk) were located 10 min walk from the hotel. We tended to eat great lunches in restaurants and pick up things for dinner in the nearby (3 mins from hotel) grocery or natural foods store. The pool was one of the best we encountered during our 3 weeks of travel. The on-site washing machine and dryer were essential for traveling with children. We had a corner room on one of the higher floors, and our view was great. The size of the room (for a one-bdrm suite) was fantastic--definitely like an apartment and not hotel. For the cost, space, and convenience, it was an excellent choice.

My sister and I took an impromptu trip to Montreal for the weekend and stayed at this wonderful hotel - the room was, indeed, an "apartment"! Our accommodations included a bedroom with queen bed, separate living room area with a pull-out couch (both rooms had a tv), a full kitchen, complete with stove, full fridge, sink, toaster, microwave, dishes/glasses/silverware for 4, pots and pans, a small dining table for 4 and a small balcony. A reasonable continental breakfast was included in the rate, which could be eaten in the dining room downstairs, or taken back to your room. Free internet. If we had wanted to, we certainly could have cooked in the room and saved some $ - a grocery store is located about 2 (easy walking) blocks away. Location was great - a block from McGill University, with a number of other hotels nearby. This would be great for a longer stay for parents visiting the University, or anyone wanting to feel "at home" during their stay. Front desk staff were very helpful with giving directions/maps, etc. (equally versed in French and English).

A few warnings: as it is a college community, there's a fair amount of "revelry" on the street at night...sometimes working its way into the early morning hours. Might be an issue for very light sleepers (singing, shouting, occasional ambulances, etc.). Wasn't enough of a deterrent for us, but might be for others.
Also, parking is below the hotel (about $22/night - charged to your room). The "ceiling" in the parking area is EXTREMELY LOW - water pipes. We laughed a lot, wondering if we and the car were going to clear the pipes (we did). I think the front desk determines what kind of vehicle you have before they have you park inside...with good reason! it looks like there are a few spots outside for larger vehicles...you may want to inquire ahead of time if you have a tall car.

Terrific find - highly recommended!

The hotel is in a great location. The subway is just a few blocks away which will get you anywhere in the city. The room had a balcony and a kitchenette with fridge, stove and microwave. The beds were very comfy as well. There is an indoor pool on the rooftop and a sauna and a few exercise machines. Continental breakfast was very good and replenished all the time. I had forgotten to print out our boarding passes for our flight home. There was a computer in the dining room and though it was already closed for the day, the staff opened it up and let me print out our passes, at no charge! If I had to say one negative thing, it would be that the elevators were very slow.

Have stayed in this hotel twice now, once in the and once in just a queen room. Both rooms have a kitchenette that includes fridge, stove and microwave, coffee pot and hot pot. Has the be the firmest hotel bed I have ever slept on. Hotel is centrally located can walk to most things or catch the train 3 blocks away. The breakfast buffet is just carbs and fruit no meat or eggs, and you have to pay extra to park.

We had a very enjoyable stay in L'Appartement Hotel. We had a one bedroom apartment which was spacious, comfortable (if a little dated) with a very usable kitchen and dining space. The bed was a little small for a queen bed but very comfortable. It could be deemed to be a little on the hard side for some people but we were very happy. The pool area was pleasant and the laundry facilities were easy to use. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast provided each day had a good selection of juice, cereals, fruit and baked goods. The breakfast room can get very overcrowded but we started to take our breakfast back to our room which worked very well for us. The lift issue which has been mentioned by other reviewers was apparent but not major, you may have to wait but not really for too long. The hotel is in a good location near to McGill metro stop and there is a good supermarket located close by.
The area is very student oriented so you will need to go a bit further afield for restaurants but there are lots of cafes etc close to the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

I am late writing this review. I stayed here last March and enjoyed my stay very much. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were also very clean.

Overall I would say you get a good value for the price of this Hotel. It is not a 5 star Hotel nor does it claim to be, but if your looking for a nice place for a good price I would recommend this place.
