“need updating but good location good staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

stayed here for two weeks got room 101 at first, which would have been fine except that I wanted the sofa bed that had been advertised when I booked. turns out the sofa beds are not standard in all rooms and so we had to get a twin double bed room instead as the rooms with the sofa beds were all occupied. got it for a small fee which was not to bad. the staff were great, really helpful and since you can launder for free and there is facilities for cooking uncomplicated meals and doing breakfast it means you can stay in and cook if you do a little shopping. room 202 was the best of the four rooms I got a chance to look into, this room actually has a flat screen tv as is advertised. close to bus stop, close to shopping, restaurants and bars and if you are of the mind there is about 6 beach volley ball courts, a few tennis courts plus jogging and cycling up mont royal for those wanting to get in some exercise.

Room Tip: best room I saw was 202, if you are on a lower floor and the person above you stumbles in early hour...

Ugh. What a terrible hotel. We booked early in the summer for a stay in the fall and were told by some local friends that the place is just a wreck. So we cancelled by phone and were told our card wouldn't be charged. Then we see a charge show up on our card for the first night! Called the hotel and talked to some crazy woman named "Jenny" who could barely speak English OR French and who shamed us for "abusing her system". Not sure what she meant by that, but needless to say, the hotel stole $80. What a disappointment. They are clearly out to squeeze their guests for money. YUCK!

Room Tip: We ended up renting a place through airbnb and were very happy to deal with a local instead of some...

The staff were very friendly and kind. It might be best to leave it at that!

The place was cheap, it was convenient and the room did it's job. The hotel is really quite outdated and that was a bit disconcerting.

There were three possible heating devices and it took me ages to work out how to sort the thermostat out (as in I boiled all night and the heating was noisy). The bathroom was clean enough but the tiny sink wasn't very helpful. I could hear the person upstairs walking around all the time, and I was woken by a member of hotel staff who seemed to be on the phone outside my room at 7am.

I don't want to be unkind because this place is cheap and you often get what you pay for. If you don't look behind the cupboards it appears clean (I had to to find a plug).

Room Tip: There was one hairdryer available to borrow at reception and although it had a fridge and microwave...

stayed for 5 nights during grand prix weekend. Had the hotel chosen for us after buying the cheapest Grand Prix package we could. Staff were extremely helpful. Hotel room was extremely small, although did have a small kitchenette area. The bathroom was a wet room. The room was fine but needed updating, shame they had painted it grey otherwise the room would have felt bigger. The area was nice, next to a park which had a real family atmosphere and we were glad we had stayed away from the student protests that were happening at the time. The metro station was 10 mins walk away, but only a few short stops into the city centre. Good value but manage your expectations...

I like staying here when I am in town visiting son at McGill University. It is a short walk/drive to campus. Bixi Bikes are on the corner, which cost $7 for 24 hours, a great way to see the city. We biked to bagels, parks, markets, through neighborhoods and the campus.

Our room was clean, had two comfortable beds, window that opened/shut, euro size bathroom, flat screen TV, good A/C, small counter/sink/refrigerator, oh, and had pergo floors, so bring earplugs, you sometimes hear your neighbors.

I like that there is also a kitchen available to make a cup of tea or heat something in the microwave. It has some dishes available, and a large refrigerator/freezer. I found the front desk employees very helpful and friendly. There is a small outside patio in front of building where you can watch the street. Little pubs and shops and restaurants are all around. Which is exactly what I love about Montreal.

Parking is metered, which is a bother most everywhere in Montreal.
There is a parking garage about two blocks north which charges $20/day. I found free parking around Jeanne Mance park, but you have to read the signs very carefully, and they are in French. Watch out for street cleaning days, and morning and evening commute restrictions.
