“What was good (and bad) at Le Cantile Suites”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

First the good: Great location. Great price. Huge room (we had 1910) with river view. Surprisingly comfortable king size bed and pillows. Rooftop swimming pool. Well appointed kitchenette. Now the bad: As huge as the room was, the bathroom was teensy and desperately needed a shelf for our toiletries. The only mirror in the suite was in the bathroom. There either was no exhaust fan, or it didn't work; either way, expect that one mirror to fog up immediately as soon as you turn on the shower. There's an extra charge to use hotel Wi-Fi. Three small elevators in a tall, narrow hotel pretty much guaranteed slow service and/or passups when the elevator was full. We did not eat in the restaurant.

Stayed there for 2 nights and was really happy with the location being really close to a huge array of bars and restaurants. We had a problem with our booiking which was handled quickly and without fuss (the problem was of our own making!!). Only ate breakfast in the hotel which was fine. The bar is a bit dull and would recommend going to one of the bars around the hotel. Room was clean and was cleaned well during our stay.
Great views from the rooftop pool which we used on a coupke of occasions. Did not use gym so no idea what this was like. Very handy for the hop on hop off bus which is great to get a good idea of what the city has to offer.
Did slightly object to paying $20 a day for parking put that was probably our only gripe.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high level

We searched many sites in downtown Montreal within our preferred moderate price range. Hotel Le Cantlie Suites was a perfect choice. While not a five star facility, it certainly has an upscale feel compared to other similarly priced hotels. It is near metro stations and bus stops. I had communicated that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted to have a room with a good view. I immediately received a reply indicating that they would make a note of this in my reservation. We were placed on the 25th floor in a VERY spacious room that also had a full kitchen. The furnishings were very modern and the view was wonderful. The only small drawback was that the hotel still charges for in-room wi-fi connection.

Room Tip: Request a room on upper floors to get a good view of Montreal.

I went to Montreal for the long weekend with a group of 5 sharing a 1 bedroom suite for the Osheaga music fest. The hotel is a bit outdated aesthetically and the elevators are small but the staff are friendly and the 1 bedroom was as advertised. We got one of the rooms that had more contemporary furniture, which was nice. There were two double/queen beds in the bedroom and a pull-out couch in the living room. The kitchen had everything we needed, but we didn't cook. Just had snacks and drinks. I slept on the pull-out couch which was fine for just 3 nights but if it was a longer stay, I'd want a mattress that didn't bend in the middle. The space was roomy and sufficient for all of us. The staff were friendly and helpful even when the hotel was at capacity due to the events taking place. We had the breakfast buffet one morning and it was good value. I appreciated the fruit and healthy options, since you can't really eat healthy at a music festival. The location was close to the Peel metro station but next time I would want to stay in an area that had late night restaurants or food options available since we got out of the music fest at 11pm and needed food but room service at the hotel ends earlier and the restaurants in that neighbourhood were also closed. The maid service was great! She even did our dishes. Overall it was a good experience.

This was an excellent hotel, perfect located, the room are complete with everything that you need to stay comfortable. The only recommendation is to add at least un TV channel in other language such as Spanish, in Montreal there too many tourist in Spanish speaking. Thank you so much for be to nice.

Room Tip: All rooms have everything in the kitchen to help you save money (ex: breakfast, and snack)

Our room was on the 8th floor - clean and comfortable. The little kitchenette was perfect for us since we ate in for breakfast and a couple of dinners and ate out the rest of the time. The kitchenette was stocked with everything we needed. Good-sized fridge was great for our leftovers to snack on the next day. The rooftop pool was a lot of fun but don't look over the side if you are as scared of heights as I am!! I had heard that the elevator was extremely slow but we only noticed that maybe twice during our 9-day stay. It helped being on a lower floor too.

The location was great as there are tons of great restaurants nearby as well as the Museum of Art, the Metro station, shopping and tourist sites. The hotel matched the lower price that I had found on Expedia - that was nice. The staff were always very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower levels so you don't have to deal as much with full elevators or long...

This is a great hotel in an excellent location - quiet upscale location but still a very easy walk to all the excitement you could want. The rooms are nicely furnished and generously sized and the hotel staff are always friendly and helpful. In addition to the usual coffee maker, the rooms feature a kitchenette with toaster, microwave, mini-fridge, etc. Located on Sherbrooke Street, it's an easy walk to shops, restaurants, museums, nightlife, train and Metro stations and Old Montreal, which makes this my favourite "go to" hotel when I'm travelling to Montreal.
