Me and my partner stayed in this hotel for only one night while visiting the Montreal En Lumière festival back in February. The location was truly excellent - right in the centre and very close to a huge array of restaurants, bars, and the festival itself. When we arrived we took the short walk up the entrance stairs (which might causes problems for the elderly or travellers with heavy bags). We were then greeted by the friendly staff who possessed both fluent English and French and probably a range of other languages. Once again there were more stairs up to our room on the 3rd floor. For us fit and healthy travellers it wasn't a problem, although while slightly intoxicated, the stairs proved considerably more challenging...
The room itself was cosy and comfy with a lovely bathroom and a little view of nothing in particular. Many of the pipes were exposed on the ceiling but these were painted the same as the walls and somehow worked with the feel of the room - comfy, cosy, with a dash of industry.
For me the bed was very comfortable although my partner disagreed so beware that the beds may not suit everybody!
Overall the stay was pleasant and enjoyable. I would recommend not to bother paying for the queen sized rooms unless you really want them. It was not worth the extra expense in my opinion.
Lastly, to those complaining about the many sex shops, including one downstairs, do not be put off! The area was safe and the noise is minimal, even during the busy festival.
