Our stay at the Montreal Delta was simply wonderful. Upon our arrival, there were initially some reservation glitches. However, the hotel management and most especially, Catherine Dudoit from management, immediately remedied the problem. We have heard a number of things about Quebec and were not sure just how welcome we would be as we did not speak French. Despite this language barrier, virtually everyone we came into contact with from the front desk to the concierge spoke perfect English and were accommodating and gracious. Our room was beautiful and clearly well cleaned. We took advantage of the health club facilities, which were similar to a complete fitness center to include pool and racquet court. We also had the morning buffet breakfast, which was delicious and if you wanted, made to order. Everything you may have needed or wanted was right there in the hotel including a day spa, and even a barber. This place was almost too good to be true. We look forward to returning many times over the coming years to Montreal and most assuredly will be returning to the Delta. No slight to Holiday Inn, but this was no Holiday Inn. This was a 5 star hotel experience.

We stayed here during the weekend of the recent F1 Grand Prix. The main lobby and bar areas of the hotel are all fine and well maintained but the bedrooms (at least the one we were given) is another story as they appeared not to have been painted or kept freshened up now for many years with the result that the decor in the room was old, faded and not what one expects in a Hotel that is supposed to be a four star premises.
That said the room was extremely clean even though it did smell old & almost musty.
Staff in the hotel were all very professional, courteous and helpful so full marks on that side.
The location of the hotel is also excellent being near to the metro and a short enough walk down to the old town area.
It just looks like the hotel has been starved of investment to keep it at the standard it once was whih is a pity as it was good in most other aspects.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Being a Canadian I joined Delta Privilege loyalty program, thinking I wanted to support Canadian owned companies. Well that was the start of nothing at this hotel. When I walked up to the desk, I mentioned that I was a Delta Privilege member and the front desk clerk basically told me that means nothing. Put back in my place, I accepted it. She then informed me that i was in a room with two queens and i told her that there must have been a mistake on the reservation (not that she made a mistake) and that I had thought I had reserved a king bed. At first she told me that there was nothing available (without looking) I asked her to look once more and a miracle she found one.

The other issue that I am also running into with Delta hotels is the lack of Wireless High Speed access. The excuse that two of the hotels are giving me now is that they are not able to change over to WIFI due to the number of government employees that stay at the hotel and their need for secure access. My partner works for a high tech company and they provide the internet security for accessing information and my friends that work for the Canadian government also have security measures for access. It really is because the hotel does not want to invest the monies into upgraded its systems.

Once we checked into the room, the room itself was a shame. There was Mold on the window sills and under the wallpaper that was peeling away from the wall around the window. The lighting in the bathroom was burnt out and hummed. The toilet rolls was almost empty. There was a hole in the bathroom door the bathroom fan made loud noises.

We stayed for two nights and none of these items were addressed as well as there was attitude from the front desk when i complained that there was no Hot water the first morning and when I commented that the bathroom toiletries had not been restocked after the first day. (they where never restocked during our stay). What surprises me is that the Delta makes it self out to be a first class hotel...

Room Tip: Try a different hotel.

Dear Valued Guest,

We were quite distraught with your comments in regards to your check in. Our staff strives to ensure the highest level of customer service. We sincerely apologize that this is not what you experienced and rest assured we will forward your comments to the Front Desk Manager.

In regards to our room conditions we understand your disappointment and opinion that our rooms look tired. We have started renovations in several areas of the hotel and major renovations to rooms will begin this late summer. This will include updating all rooms with wireless HSIA.

Several other Delta properties will also be updated to have wireless in rooms.

It would be a pleasure to discuss further the inconveniences you experienced during your last stay. If you wish at any time you may contact our Guest Service Manager on Duty.

Sincerely,

This hotel was horrible except for the lobby area and bar/restaurant areas looks.
Even for a discount, the room was awful. Carpet was buckled and stained, literally had a rise in it about 2 inches tall especially where you walked. Patio had mildew and glass was broken. Disgusting.
I will say bed and sheets were very nice as well as linens.
For over $155 a night, go elsewhere.
Michael, concierge was very good. Reservation was ready and correct.
And yes I did complain. The response, "yes we know we are redoing all of ours rooms later this year?
Well what the heck did care, I was there THEN.

Terrible service for this over priced and poorly kept outdated hotel. I would never go back and due to the service at the front desk may not ever go to any Delta hotel. Because I did not book directly with the hotel they treated me like a second class citizen.
