Description: Chez Chose offers a menu from a blackboard. This menu varies depending on the season and the products from our providers, each and every one of them Quebec's very own craftsmen. It also varies following the fantasies of our chef Marie-France Desrosiers whom plays around the products we receive, maintaining a fresh and seasonal selection. May it be foie gras, vegetables, rabbit, guinea fowl regardless of the delivery, she will lay in your plate a joyful mix of flavours . The perfect brew of our local farmers' hard work and the genius of Marie-France has made Chez Chose something... Grandiose. Have a taste, you will see....

Went for Mother's Day with wife/daughter (4th visit - consistently excellent). Staff do a great job of explaining their eclectic dishes/ingredients. My 14 year old ordered foie gras for her first time (and last on my tab!) and loved it. Excellent service, good wine assistance. Highly recommended - not cheap, but value for money.

Our son, a student at McGill, recently moved to this area, so we were trying out one of the nearby restaurants and had a great experience. We had 5 people, none of whom spoke French, so our waiter kindly interpreted the many dishes on the nightly blackboard with good humor and grace. We all started with the salad de moment - wonderful arugula and goat cheese mix. Our entrees varied from venison, to rabbit, squab, arctic char to braised short ribs, all delicious. They brought us a small amuse-bouche of rabbit pate with wasabi that was wonderful. After dinner, they brought little bites of strawberry gelatin on little sticks, that was lovely. Their house wine was fine, and overall, a nice evening!

We had an all-around–delightful experience at our Friday-night dinner here. We ordered the 5-course tasting menu (6, if you count the amuse bouche, that night a delicious rabbit pâté) with wine pairings. The food was French bistro fare with a twist, clearly not aiming to be as refined as gourmet cuisine, but no less inventive in terms of the interesting combinations assembled in each dish. We both thought the hint of curry and candied pineapple made a success of the shrimp appetiser. I was even more impressed with the sweetbreads, served with caramelised shallots and mushrooms, and the pigeon with Israeli couscous; I'm a fan of both sweetbreads and pigeon, but my fiancée would not normally have ordered these from an à la carte menu, so it says a lot that she enjoyed what Chez Chose made of them as part of our tasting menu.

Portion sizes were more than adequate, and I considered the $55 tasting menu to be a very good value, along with the $30 wine accompaniment.

This is a very casual restaurant: no tablecloths, exposed brick on one wall, lots of wood surfaces elsewhere, subdued lighting. Host Robert Martin couldn't have given us a more enthusiastic welcome, and he was jovial throughout the evening without being intrusive ... that's a tricky balance to get right. Sommelier Manon Nadeau was clearly very knowledgeable, and all of her wine pairings were well matched to each dish. We will certainly go back, and I have no hesitation in recommending Chez Chose highly to anyone looking for an above-average meal and a relaxed evening out.

My friend and I had their cheif tasting menu, and it comes with 5 dishes. The price is $55 per person. I was very excited about the tasting menu and was expecting something to "WOW" me... but nope!!! Very common and usual menu - shrimp tempura, crispy wrap with cheese inside on top of small portion of duck meat, sautéed mushrooms, pork with some veges, and carrot cake...... seriously!!! The portion is just ok, and we need to have bread to fill us up. I think don't try the tasting menu and just try their regular main dish instead, it will be more expected and valuable.
