I recently realized that Zante had opened on Sherbrooke Street , very convenient location. I decided right away to go for lunch with a friend and we did not regret it .
We sat outside in the shade and enjoyed it .
The starter salad was very good , but it would have been even better with some feta cheese added. I had the grilled calamari for main course . The portion was generous and grilled just right . The potato / vegetable side dish was also good . My friend had a whole fish that was opened up covering the whole plate. It was spiced with some herbs and olive oil . It was definitely exquisite and fresh .
I wish they had had two choices of desert and not just one that was very sweet.
Service could have been a bit more professional , but it was ok . We will definitely return to Zante as soon as we can . I highly recommend this restaurant .

We were a party of 5 - one ordered a rib steak, which was excellent, and the rest of us shared the mezze for 4 and a saganaki. We had planned on ordering a fish as well, but the mezze, along with wine, was very filling. Everything was delicious! Our waiter, Jimmy, was fun (only 2 questions allowed) and helpful. At his suggestion, we had backlava and yogurt with honey and cherries for a shared dessert. Also very good. Only negative - the Caesars weren't up to par. Still, a really good experience, would definitely return.

After having closed the restaurant on St-Laurent several months back, the guys behind Zante are back, with an upscale restaurant in The Cantile Hotel on Sherbrooke.

The decor and atmosphere of the new restaurant is matched by the quality and friendliness of the service. And the food? Just terrific. Best Greek salad in the city, great grilled fish, and wonderful vegetable sides.

A bit expensive, but well worth it because of the quality of the food. Certainly a place to return to.

Hooray!!. Costa and Tony are back after closing the St Laurent restaurant due to several years of roadworks ruining trade on that street. The new address is in the le Cantlie Suites Hotel, 1110 Rue Sherbrooke O
Montréal, QC H3A 1G9 Canada (+1) 514-842-2000
Parking underground at the hotel, and if you are visiting Montreal (as you should) this is a great place to stay with sitting room, kitchenette and great rates, right in the middle of "The Golden Square Mile".
The new Zante has nice warm wood pannelling that absorbs a lot of noise. Music is Greek (naturally) but soft in the background. The high back seats are the most comfortable that I have used anywhere, great for my bad back. There are tons of staff, and they run. Nobody pushes there, but on this night Costa was quietly keeping track of everything and everyone, while greeting the guests. Most of the guests were "regulars" and like us 4, who have been going to Zante ever since the world began, we have been anxiously waiting for the new place to open (and it did, just 2 weeks ago).
The menu is big and varied, the cooking, preparation and presentation were all what you would expect from C&A. My fish was about as good as it gets, soft without being drowned in oil or butter and nicely done with fresh herbs. The Zuccini "Chips" were delicious and the salad fresh and tasty. My "Cosmopoitan" cocktail was enormous. I would have liked to see a white Malagousia Assyrtico blend from the famous vigneron Evangelos Gerovassillou but the wine list is extensive, mostly Greek and of good quality and very fair prices. All together a great night. We will all be back again and again, and again.

We were a traveling party of eight early in October looking for a top notch restaurant; and by the dint of good luck found Zante, which had been recommended by the concierge at The Sofitel Hotel. We were greeted and feted by Tony Vourliotis, one of the restaurant owners over two consecutive evenings of fun, charm and a bountiful offering of delicious dishes and good wines. The ambience and fare are mostly Greek and neither disappointed. When specific cocktail requests were not available our first night of dinning; they were found and offered our second night. Indeed, Zante's current signature drink is now Marker's Mark on ice served with a slice of fresh orange. Tony swears no sailor who enjoys this delicious treat suffers from the ill effects of scurvy. Remarkably, this outstanding restaurant had just opened the week we were there. So, I suspect the experience and fantastic offerings have only improved. Just outstanding. Ask for Tony, sip the Makers Mark and savior the lamb.
