Nice location- quiet but close to lots of things. Accomodating hosts, nice room, comfy mattress and a FANTASTIC four course breakfast! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, and would certainly go back.

This B&B is definitely a nice place to stay in Montreal. It's conveniently located, comfortable and clean. The hosts, Carolle and Francois, are really friendly and make us feel welcome. The breakfast Carolle made for us was so delicious that we just couldn't get enough. Overall, I strongly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Montreal. It will definitely make your trip even more memorable.

This bnb is very conveniently located, as its name suggests. Our room and the entire inn was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious and they use locally sourced ingredients. The hosts, Carol and Francois, are very friendly and hospitable. We stayed in the Bretonne room and had a private bath. It was quiet and very private. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Montreal in the future!

There is no better place to stay if you go to Montréal, this B&B, more like an Inn is very well located at walking distance from the heart of the city. Its name "Urban Heart" also goes for the warmth of the welcome of the wonderful hosts, Carolle & François. And its charm sets deep in your heart after only a one-night stay. Its modern, classic decor contrasts pleasantly with its "old manor exterior" that draws you in through the red door. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic retreat, a tourist adventure to discover Montréal, a business trip, a friends get together, it will fit everybody's needs and desires for a rich, high level comfort experience. And morning aromas of breakfast in the large dining room will be something to remember for local produce discoveries. The rooms named by thematics such as African suite, Japanese, Quebecoise are colourful and pretty. Everything has been thought about to the finest détails of commodities and finest of linens and pillows. Quality at its very best is at Au Cœur Urbain where this amazing couple have created a "top notch" place to stay.

My husband and I spent a few nights at Au Coeur Urbain in August during our honeymoon in Montreal/QC. We decided to split our time between another B&B in Montreal and Au Coeur Urbain in order to experience a different part of the city and different B&B. Boy, were we sure glad we chose Au Coeur Urbain! (The other B&B, which was also nice, was in Plateau Mont Royal and closer to Old Montreal and touristy sights).

We stayed in the Suite Africane, which was immaculate, colorful, and very beautiful. The bed and linens were very comfortable and clean. The room was quiet enough for us to get a good night's rest, but remember that you are in the center of the city so a little noise is inevitable - it did not bother our sleep one bit though. The en suite bathroom was spotless, and had a gorgeous tiled shower with a wonderfully fragrant shampoo. I really appreciate the little touches, so the fact that the hosts provided us with top quality shampoo, soap, and robes was really thoughtful.

Carolle and Francois were such a lovely couple. Their English was more than sufficient (charming, actually) and we learned many really interesting things about their lives before opening this B&B a year or so ago. They both had very interesting careers and travel experiences themselves, and recently renovated this charming old house to open a B&B (and did an amazing job!!). Their multi-course breakfast was out of this world - by far the best gourmet breakfast I've had from a B&B. In addition to a delicious daily main entree and pastries breakfast included many local Montreal area cheeses, jams, maple products, and other treats. My husband and I had a wonderful time talking with our hosts and with the other guests over the communal breakfast table.

This B&B is close to some really great restaurants and attractions (Kazu, historic Hurley's Irish Pub, the Museum of Fine Arts, McGill, for example). My husband and I even hiked up Mont Royal, which is located nearby and provides great views of the city. There is also easy enough access to buses and the subway line, which can take you all over the city. We did not rent a car while we were in Montreal, and we found that hardy legs and public transportation were more than sufficient for us to see a lot of the city. However, as other posters have noted, the B&B is situated on a hill, and it could be a very strenuous walk for some guests who may prefer use of a car. We much preferred to walk whenever possible and did not mind climbing the hill to get home to our little oasis at Au Coeur Urbain.

As other reviewers have noted, there was no door between the en suite bathroom and first room of the suite (where there was a desk and air conditioning unit). There was, of course, a thick divider wall between the desk area and the toilet/shower. And there was also a door between the bathroom and the bedroom which provided sufficient privacy. It was not any big deal to us - you just close the door to the bedroom if you want a little more privacy than the divider provides.

In summary, our experience at Au Coeur Urbain could not have been better - it was such restful and memorable experience. You can tell that Carolle and Francois have really thrown themselves into this work. They were incredibly hospitable, sweet, and always had a smile on their faces. This lovely little upstart B&B would be perfect for a couple on a getaway who want a great home base from which to explore the city, or a for business traveller who wants a more engaging experience while in Montreal. We would definitely stay there again and will recommend to our friends as well.

There is just no other way of saying it. Going to Au Coeur Urbain is like coming home. Such a beautifully decorated, warm, cozy home of a lovely couple - Carolle & Francois. Right after getting there Francois handed us the keys to the main door and to our bedroom. While Carolle was making sure everything in our room was perfect, we were asked to wait in the cute living area. It didn't take more than 15 minutes (even though we reached much earlier than the check-in time mentioned in our reservation). Beside the main door was a closet in which all the guests left their shoes and hung their coats. How much more homely can a place be! Francois then showed us to our room upstairs. Picture-perfect. Spotlessly maintained, and the little details were so thoughtful and made such a difference. We especially loved the shower and the bed. I've read many earlier reviews complaining about there being no door to separate the bathroom from the bedroom. Honestly, that was no problem at all. Although it was a first-time experience for us, we actually enjoyed having no door! Just added to the charm of this quaint B&B. Everything is exactly as you see in the photos on the website. Next morning we were impressed again during breakfast time. It was a 3 course affair starting off with fresh honeydew & yoghurt, and ending with freshly baked cookies and cupcakes. My husband had a great time picking and choosing from the 9 different jams to have with his multi-grain toast. I had mine with fresh Quebecois cheese. Yum! Breakfast really was a treat we won't soon forget, especially the way Francois narrated a short story behind almost every item he served. Check-out was as much of a breeze as check-in.

I should also mention that during the course of our short stay we happened to meet a few fellow guests. Each of them was as friendly as the hosts themselves. A couple we met on the first day told us how amazing this place was, and offered us tea/coffee from the stand in the corner. I know I cannot give credit to the B&B for this, but things like these do contribute greatly to your overall experience. As my husband says, he wouldn't suggest anyone to stay anywhere else when in Montreal.

We emailed Carolle and Francois to say thank you after we returned home. I had to ask her for the recipe for those delicious chocolate chip cookies. Probably the best I ever had. To my pleasant surprise, she promptly replied with a recipe in French attached!

P.S We stayed at La Quebecois.

Carolle and Francois are delightful hosts - very helpful and charming. The B & B is, as previous guests have mentioned, up a fairly steep hill but still very conveniently located. It was quiet despite being near a large hospital. The rooms are beautifully, organically furnished and provided a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfasts were superb. Definitely hope to make return visits.
