“Disappointed - Won't Stay Again”
Reviewed 17 February 2010

My husband and myself recently stayed at the St Paul with another couple for three days, two nights. We each had a room on the 9th floor.

The positive aspects:
-The rooms were clean
-The hotel is located fairly close to the tourist area of Old Montreal

The negative aspects:
-The breakfast was non existant. There was no food, no cups, no cutlery, no dishes, no coffee, no tea, no staff refilling ANYTHING, etc etc. They should not advertise "breakfast included"
-We were not told that they charge extra $$ for parking until we were checking out and given a bill for $12 per day!
-Our internet connection did not work in either room throughout our entire stay and they did not fix the problem when it was reported to the front desk
-The rooms were BOILING hot, and the thermostat didn't really seem to help. (We only discovered that the windows open on our last day.)
-Our TV remote didn't work

To summarize, this hotel is trendy, but it lacks substance. Although we still had a great time in Montreal, we will not stay at the St Paul again, and we do not recommend it to anyone else.

Dear vlukewi,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and share your thoughts about your recent experience at the St.Paul.

We normally provide a more satisfying experience; however, I do admit that on this occasion we fell short. Therefore, on behalf of the entire team, I do apologize for all of the shortcomings of your stay.

Please know that I have shared this review with the proper departments and that we will certainly look for greater accountability. Such service deficiencies are not exemplary of the standards set at the St.Paul and I assure you that corrective measures will be taken within the departments concerned to ensure that this sort of guest experience does not reoccur.

If you would like to contact me directly, I will be more than happy to discuss this matter further with you.

Kindest Regards,

Peter

This hotel has a unique caractere, unique location (in the old Montreal) : furniture is simply amazing / elegant : all rooms are differents and you really feel like beeing at home, the staff is very friendly and efficient, the restaurant is good (great dishes) and the bar is also a very nice place to relax . We stayed 5 days with the entire family (3 kids) and we would really recommand this hotel for both leisure or business trips.

The St-Paul is one of the best boutique hotel in Montreal.
Staff is incredible and very helpful. The service is personalized and every body is on top of its work. Thank you Valerie for the welcome note in the room. Thank you Ali for swamping everybody with good mood and professionalism.

A great stay and a strong recommendation for:
1/ Staff
2/Location (best location in the Old Port)
3/ restaurant (Vauvert is the Hot Spot on Thrsday night)

Stayed over one night in the most gorgeous suite - ate at the restaurant in the hotel (Vauvert) and took advantage of the breakfast (delicious) - loved every minute of my stay. The location of this hotel is perfect - in the old historical part of Montreal - walking distance to shops and great restaurants. Service was great and loved the nice touches (water bottles, delicious chocolates). You will not be dissapointed!!

Loved the stunning Beaux-arts facade, the beautiful public spaces, the clean contemporary design. An elegant hotel within a signature building. Unpretentious, resourceful and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our evening at the Vauvert restaurant: outstanding food and atmosphere, very nice music selection by the live dj. Room was spacious and very comfortable.
(One suggestion: the breakfast selection could be a little bit more diversified).
Loved our experience!

Set in the historic district of Montreal, close to all the great sights, the contemporary hotels offers everything a person could need. The staff is attentive (we travelled with your young son) and always had good recommendations/tips to provide us. The restaurant is also impecable- Thursday nights are a great scene!
Any of my friends thinking of going I recommend they stay at the St Paul!

The St Paul hotel is located in old Montreal, in a beautiful building. We got a free upgrade, for a very pleasant suite facing the street but without any noise. The bathroom was spacious with a huge tub and very good quality products. You even have an umbrella in the room just in case. The Staff was friendly and there are two restaurants: one at the 2nd floor where you can enjoy a nice breakfast on cosy sofas if you wish, and another one on the first floor with an independent bar. The only complaint would be about the corridors too dark. We definitely had a good time there, and we recommend this hotel.
