I really wanted to give this hotel a five star rating but a few things held me back. First let me say that you can't beat the location if you are looking to stay in Old Montreal. Literally next to Notre Dame, and walking distance to dozens of restaurants, pubs, shopping and a few museums, you will have easy access to plenty of activities to keep you busy. The staff, all but one, were fantastic. They were friendly and accommodating. Had a couple of hiccups with a few staff members but nothing that ruined our stay. Plus the pleasant experiences we had outside the two more than made up for any deficiencies. There were a few things in the bathroom that I did not particularly like but again nothing that should not be expected from an older hotel. Our room, a suite with separate bedroom and living areas was quite spacious and even had a kitchenette with electric stove top, microwave and sink. Easily enough to make your own meals if you chose to do so. The hotel halls, doors and elevators had some signs of wear and tear but again, old hotel and could be expected. For location and staff I highly recommend this spot. We would definitely stay here again but would probably keep the door open to other options on a return visit as well.

Room Tip: Suites with "private terrace" - the terrace is really not all that private as they are in...

This was our 3d visit and it won't be our last as my husband has to travel to Montreal for work. We will continue to visit the St Sulpice, no doubt but I do have a few comments to make.

At check in we were not aknowledged as return visitors. Last time, check in was super helpful, they greeted us back, gave us an upgrade and really showed they realised we were return guests.
None of this now. Check in was clinical. The room assigned, 419, was the normal room we had booked but was the worst we have ever stayed in. You would hope that if a hotel is empty, a loyal customer might get a nicer room. Ok, we can live without it but I did not enjoy the fold down bed.
The room is massive, yet there is a fold down bed??? It was a bit on the small size.

In the evening I asked for conditioner for the next morning. The guy at check in barely listened to my request, he interrupted and said , it was being done now. Needless to say, conditioner was not placed in room,

During our last stays, we got every night 2 water bottles. This time only one was given.

We wanted to order breakfast in the room but there are only eggs etc. we wanted cereals and fruit or oatmeal. It is not on the menu.

On the positive, I got a late check out and hotel is still a lovely option in old Montreal.

I would stay again but please train your staff to be welcoming, especially to loyal customers and change breakfast options.

Room Tip: I prefer garden view and in summer, with balcony

Stayed here in January 2013 and loved everything. Unfortunately, things seem to have gone downhill significantly since then. Towels in the bathroom are threadbare; dishes in the kitchen were dirty; kitchen counter and desk had not been washed and were sticky; and the shower was filled with mildew. I'm very disappointed. Seemed like such a gem when I stayed here previously.

The perfect location in Old Montreal. If you are looking for a great boutique experience this is the place. The rooms are fabulous similar to a small apartments and very comfortable. The hotel itself is very cozy and relaxing. Their staff is always warm and welcoming. It's actually located right behind Notre Dame Basilica on Rue Saint Sulpice, and is seconds away from Saint Paul Street and all the restaurants, bars, shops and stores. One block away is the waterfront with many great attractions. Looking forward to my next stay!

The hotel and staff were excellent, as usual. We always stay there when we are in Montreal. We were granted an upgrade this time to an executive suite with a separate bedroom with a King size bed and a fireplace. We wished we could have stayed longer...

Room Tip: Any room will do. If you are an employee of the Government of Canada, don't forget to ask if th...

We normally stay in the St. Denis area but decided to check out Le Saint-Sulpice. We were not disappointed. Great room (we received an upgrade) and with an advance booking and purchase the price was perfect. Was nice to have a street room view and although there was a noisy crowd on Saturday night the sound did not leak into our room. Will definitely return.

Very modest and genuine service! We had a room where the bedroom is separated from the living room and there is a comfortable futon located in the living area. After settling in for a day my sister wanted to come and stay on the futon instead of in her apartment in Montreal. When we asked about bringing her dog over they let us know that we can bring the dog for an extra charge of $40 for the entire stay - not per night, but the entire stay. He explained that they only charge because after a dog stays in a hotel room they have to clean the fabrics and carpets thoroughly just in case the next occupant is allergic to dogs. Again, very modest and genuine hotel - I DIDN'T feel like i was indirectly getting robbed of my own money.
The hotel itself is average but kept clean and new. It's location is prime and the lobby is nice and cozy with a classy lounge in the back.
The only complain I would have is that having a car was a bit of a hassle because they only had valet parking so if you were to forget something or were coming in and out a couple of times it would be quite inconvenient. Also going in and out cost us some money for tips!
