Well, I am about a year late with this review, but I guess, better late than never!

We stayed here traveling up from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont for our Fall Trip.
The location was just perfect, we did not use our car for a couple of days, were able to walk everywhere in Old Town Montreal up to Notre Dame Basilica and down to the Saint Lawrence River.

The hotel was great! We had a very nice suite, fabulous breakfast, everything was top notch and we definitely would stay here again. This hotel had more amenities than we used during our stay, but, there is always a next time! :)

We had a comfortable, standard room with all the usual amenities. Our room was on the back side and was quiet. I had some unexpected problems at home, and the staff were very good at sending and receiving faxes, etc. My only quibble was that the choice at the breakfast went down considerably over the weekend--maybe because they were more geared to the business traveler?

Large, clean room. Comfy bed. Tasty buffet-style breakfast included - really good croissants.Valet parking for an extra fee, but well worth it - the attendants didn't smell- yeah, it matters. (Check-out is noon and you can park without extra cost until 4 pm- plenty of time to walk around the old port area)

Room Tip: Top floor gives you a nice view of the area.

Excellent mid priced hotel that is a great launching point for all Montreal. Breakfast and internet are included. Short Walk to the Metro and Chinatown. Rue St. Paul dining, shopping and nightlife are around the corner. You'll hear the garbage trucks between 5:30am and 6:30am though. The room had 2 double beds, a sleeper sofa, mini-fridge and a microwave.

My family and I (4 adults and a 10-month-old baby) enjoyed our 4-night stay at the Marriott SpringHill Suites in Montreal's Old Town. Our rooms were large, comfortable, and kept very clean. Any requests we made at the front desk (which included directions to attractions, calling for taxis, and even obtaining a can opener for baby formula cans) were promptly and cheerfully accommodated. We asked for adjoining rooms for family members and received them. The desk staff is bilingual in English and French, as are virtually all business people, shop owners, and wait staffs at restaurants.

The value at SpringHill Suites is extremely good. The location is also excellent, in Montreal's Old Town about 2 blocks from Notre Dame basilica. (We even gave in and did the typical-tourist carriage ride around Old Town, as the carriages wait for customers in the large square in front of the cathedral. These tours aren't expensive for 3 or 4 people and give a good look at some lovely old buildings. Take the commentaries with a grain of salt, though. The carriage drivers fancifully make up at least half of what they tell you.) :-)

We did discover that, unfortunately, there are very few family-friendly, sit-down restaurants near the hotel. (Exceptions were the wonderful Creperie Chez Suzette and Steak Frites restaurants. There is also a very large and busy McDonald's if one is desperate.) Our impression of Montreal is that it is young, very urban, and eager to be Parisian chic, so there are gastropubs and Starbucks-style coffee-and-sandwiches-to-go places. There are also a few very high end restaurants in Vieux Montreal (Old Town) that one would not go to with children along.

Breakfast is included with the price of accommodations at SpringHill Suites, and it has the potential to be quite good. Unfortunately, the staff seemed completely overwhelmed by the number of guests and did not keep up with refilling empty serving dishes, utensil containers, or coffee urns. (It might have helped had they tried a bit harder, rather than stand around chatting with each other.) On our last day at the hotel, we ran into a management team evaluating the breakfast service, and we spoke to them about our experience. They agreed improvements needed to be made, so hopefully things in the food service department will soon be much better. The food itself is fine, with a good variety of cold and hot dishes. The problem was keeping them properly available, along with clean utensils, glasses, and dishes.) The breakfast area itself was large and (most of the time) had adequate seating.

Overall, I'm happy to recommend SpringHill Suites as a good hotel with very good value.

We stayed here with other family members for a four-day weekend from October 25-28 and were very happy. The location is off the beaten path and quiet. The front desk staff, no matter which shift, were extremely friendly and helpful. Kudos to the staff! The breakfast every morning was very good, good variety, definitely enough to satisfy anyone's taste, from eggs and sausage to oatmeal to cold cereals, bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt. The valet parking is a nice bonus and we didn't have to worry about our vehicles. The location is right in the heart of Old Montreal, two blocks from Notre Dame Cathedral and all the quaint streets, shops, restaurants. We would highly recommend this hotel if anyone is thinking of staying in Old Montreal. We did find the walls aren't very thick and could hear people talking in the room beside us and across the hall, but it wasn't disruptive.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the street were nice and quiet.
