This hotel is very well located as it is only a couple of blocks from Notre Dame, a few wonderful restaurants (Olive and Gourmando, Barraco, etc.), a stop for the Hop-on & Hop-off buses as well as a metro stop for Place-D'Armes.

Our room felt quite large with the tall ceiling heights and a nice soaking tub. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The only downside would be that our room was on the 1st floor with a view of the parking lot. The room was clean with water, coffee and toiletries restocked every day. I always found the front desk to be more than pleasant even upon our check-in at 2AM, two gentlemen were eager to help and chat and laughed that they were night owls. The staff was always happy to make restaurant reservations, give directions and call ahead for cabs. I even had leftovers from my breakfast and the front desk was happy to store this for me until I returned for my ride back to the airport since I had already checked out of my room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the ground level.

We are very thankful for your descriptive review. You have outlined some of the major attractions for our future guests! As you have mentioned, there is always something to do, visit or eat just steps from LHotel’s doors! It is great to hear that our staff was able to help you organize and benefit from your time here.

We are so glad our night staff eased your late-night arrival. Goodness know how tired we all are after a full day of travelling!

We look forward to welcoming you and your mother on your next visit, where we will be sure to offer you some more suggestions!

Lots of choices for hotels in this wonderful city. We made a good choice because it looked like alot of fun, and it was!

Montreal has a number of well defined areas and since your hotel can't be in all of them, this is as good a starting point as any. Not too far from Montreal's excellent transportation system so getting anywhere is fairly easy.

The hotel houses an amazing collection of pop art. It abounds in the lobby area and extends to the walls on each of the floors. (the rooms were undergoing some rennovation which meant, at least for us, no artwork in the room which was a disappointment.)

Like most hotels in Montreal, street parking is a real challenge. Hence, there was a daily fee of about $25 for valet parking. If you can avoid taking a vehicle for sidetrips within the metropolitan area, you would be well-served to leave your car behind and rely on public transportation.

Rooms are good sized and clean. Hopefully by this time wall art has been returned.

Easy to spot from street with the iconic "LOVE" stacked artwork from the movie Love Story.

While the hotel would definately prefer that you stay there, the lobby itself is worth a visit if you are in the area. Very near Notre Dame cathedral.

Dear Aubergaz,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. We are so glad that you enjoyed your time in our beautiful city of Montreal.

Your mention of the parking situation in Montreal is extremely accurate. Our valet service is a great advantage for our guests, however, as you have said, a car-free vacation if definitely the way to go! Our city is famous for its transportation services, offering worry-free transportation to all of the major attractions around the city. Our staff is more than happy to assist you with this. And what’s better than a green vacation?

Our pop art collection certainly provides that “fun” vibe that you were looking for. It is always nice to hear that our valued guests enjoy the artwork as much as we do! We sincerely regret that your visit landed during our brief construction period. Rest assured that all of our rooms now portray a new collection that we hope you will enjoy during your next stay with us!

We picked LHotel primarily for it's location, price, and Tripadvisor reviews- and we weren't disappointed.

Location: A short walk to the sights of Old Montreal and the metro. I generally like hotels that are close, but slightly removed, from the hustle and bustle of the tourist sights. There are lots of shops and restaurants to browse as you walk (and really, you're only about two blocks from one of the main sights).

Room: Pretty standard. My biggest complaint was the lack of drawer space but otherwise we had everything: nice toiletries, a small fridge for snacks/drinks and even robes for the room. Also- don't freak out if you get one of those first floor rooms- the street to the side and behind the hotel don't get enough traffic to make it the issue I feared.

Breakfast: I've seen some mixed reviews on this sight on the breakfast, but I think it's an expectations game. We were very satisfied- better than most American hotels. Were there waffle irons or eggs? No, but they do "continental" right: the breakfast pastries (the croissants!) were light & flaky, not like the pre-packaged overly sweet stuff some places serve. They have staff to bring you coffee/tea and bus the tables. Ample selection (no not huge) and what they did have was generally very good.

Staff: Great staff- were very friendly & helpful

The only other small complaint was the website pricing issue. We booked directly through the website and the final price was slightly off of what we were charged because of some problem relating to the taxes. It only amounted to $5 (4-night stay) and they may have fixed the problem by now but it was annoying nonetheless.

Dear Armybratonthemove,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for this descriptive and valuable feedback. You have provided us a great service in detailing both the positive and negative aspects of our hotel.

We take great pride in LHotel’s location, offering our guests access to the true Montreal experience. We are so glad that you benefited from this. Your mention of the lack of drawer space is something that we have already begun to look in to. It is essential for us to provide comfortable living amenities for our valued guests, like yourself. We thank you for drawing our attention to this matter.

Your outline of our breakfast selection took the words right out of our mouth! Admittedly, we do not provide the American style “bacon and eggs” selection, however our simplistic continental buffet allows for a light and delicious start to your day. And our freshly-baked croissants are truly are the icing on the cake!

We would like to apologize for the tax discrepancy you have experienced. This was a serious issue that has already been rectified. Thank you for this crucial advisement.

We look forward to greeting you in the near future, where you will be sure to receive the same quality service from our entire team!

Great hotel in the centre of town. There is a bar and the hotel has an interesting vibe and theme.
It is close to shops and restaurants.
Our room was huge with high ceilings and a good bathroom.
There is a big tv and a awesome soft but comfy bed. The pillows are also not too soft.
They also have valet parking.

Arrived at LHotel several hours prior to check in and they gave us our room early. The front desk staff was VERY accomodating and helpful as were all bellmen. Our room was a large room with offset placement of beds which afforded extra privacy. The bath was modern and had enough room for toiletries.

Loved the Robert Indiana sculpture! Art work in hallways was interesting. Did not eat at this location so cannot say about the food.

Would go back!

Room Tip: Ask for large 2 bed room.

A friend and I stayed at LHotel this past weekend and found it had a great location in Old Montreal - just steps from Notre Dame but a bit out of the way so it was incredibly quiet. We booked the room on one of the hotel booking sites, and it was one of the few that seemed to offer rooms with two beds. It was quite eclectic with all the art work. Staff were pleasant but not overly helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable with lots of storage space. Only two complaints: there was absolutely no view - we looked out onto a roof and other hotel windows. And I didn't find the lighting adequate. There was a comfy chair in one corner, but no lamp anywhere near it so it was very difficult to read; and even the lights that were provided seemed very dull. But I would certainly stay there again since price and location were both right!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an exterior view.
