My wife and I got married at Place D'Armes in June of this year and spent two nights there. All I can say is amazing! The hotel staff was unbelievably amazing and made our day and stay simply perefct. Special thanks to Dawn who was simply remarkable. She helped us with the entire wedding (which was planned and pulled off perfectly all in just 3 weeks of planning).

The staff at the front desk are courteous and willing to help with any and everything you may ask for. As mentioned in pervious reviews, there is free wine and cheese served during a select time during the first evening, but seeing as it was our wedding day, we didn't take advantage of it.

The room we stayed in was 3303 (seperate room with king bed and flat screen tv, powder room, living room with another tv and dinning table in the corner, rain shower and jaccuzi tub in bathroom) was simply wonderful. We actually booked a smaller room, but the staff gave us the upgrade as a very nice gesture seeing as it was our wedding night. We received chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary and sparkling water which was nice.

The entire hotel's decor is stunning (I love the brick walls) and I didn't want to leave.

We will be returning on our anniversary next year and plan to every year after that.

This hotel was fantastic! It had a trendy, young, elegant vibe. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and plush. Our room wasn't ready when we first checked in, so the front desk upgraded us to a nicer room that was ready, so that was awesome. The bar downstairs was fun, and they had a nice, complimentary wine and cheese reception in the evening and good continental breakfast in the morning. The location of the hotel was perfect! It was walking distance to the old port, the Notre Dame church, and pretty much everything else worth seeing in Montreal, including the metro station which gets you everywhere you want to be!

Great hotel with wonderful service, particularly at the front desk. We drove in from Quebec, and had planned to drop the car off at a rental location in the heart of the city. When we asked the concierge for directions, he said - don't drop it off there, there's too much traffic because of the Jazz Festival. He called another (closer) location, confirmed that they'd take the car and gave us great directions to it. He and the other concierges also gave us great recommendations for restaurants, and got us a reservation at one of the local hot Italian ones (I wasn't that crazy about it, but that wasn't his fault - it got high marks in Zagat as well.) The room was comfortable, there was plenty of light for reading in bed (our usual pet peeve) and there was a view of the basilica. My only minor complaint is that the wine at the complementary happy hour wasn't very good - but the continental breakfasts were delicious. The hotel is a great base for walking around Vieux Montreal, and is very close to the Metro for other excursions (go see the botanical gardens - well worth a day.)

We had a one-night stay at the Hotel Place d'Armes in Montreal. We will definitely choose this hotel next time we are in town.
With the exception of a very poor wi-fi connection in our room (which had us give up on the Internet for the duration of our stay), everything was perfect.
The room was spacious with high ceilings with a nice view of the downtown area while not being too noisy whatsoever. Keep in mind the hotel is in Old Montreal, so there is a decent walk to be had if you want to hit the downtown shopping areas of St Catherine and St Denis.
The staff was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful, and even added a special touch to our stay as it was my spouse's birthday.
The spa is very decent too.
All in all, the Hotel Place d'Armes gets an A+ ! Excellent stay!

I am a budget traveller with Beverly Hills taste, so I have a quest for finding the best possible deals at the lowest possible price. With the help of Tripadvisor -I don't leave home without it- I discovered this real gem after finding a fantastic rate with Priceline: US$130,00 a night with continental breakfast and wine and cheese evening hour included.
The location can't be beat. Accross the street from Notre Dame Cathedral, 2 blocks from the subway station, walking distance to Old Montreal, China Town (no big deal), des Jardins Complex Mall , St Catherine St, in brief, the best of Monntreal is at your doorstep. Since we are explorers and don't spend a great deal of time in our rooms, be booked the standard room. Yes, as pointed out in other reviews it is in the smaller side, but it's so well appointed and functional -even elegant- that by no means we consider that to be a downside. Fluffy pillows, great mattress and comforter, good TV, a safety box, extra-clean, well-supplied bathroom with a lot of towels, a robe and high-quality toiletries. What else can one expect for such a great deal in such a great area?
Breakfast and wine and cheese hour is served in the Suite 701 restaurant. It is continental breakfast, but with a good array of croissants, muffins, rolls, begels and cheese plus a really, really good coffee. The wine and cheese hour gives you the chance to enjoy a decent glass of wine and a variety of excellent Quebec cheeses while you meet other guests. I also like the 2 computers available for guests in the ground floor and last, but not least, the super-efficient and friendly front-desk crew, always ready to help you with any question or need you may have. Since everyone of the front-desk crew members were so attentive I just can't remember the names of all of them, but I remember Jose, the multilingual employee who was always ready to satisfy everyone of your needs promptly and with a big smile. Great job, Jose, thanks for everything.
Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay. Le Place d'Armes deserves all the great reviews it received from other Tripadvisor members. And when I go back to Montreal, why bothering to shop around? I will just book with this wonderful hotel.

For that special trip with a loved one, this place can't be beat. While a little pricey, it offers a memorable experience. Located in the heart of Old Montreal, it is an easy walk to all the major tourist sites and restaurants. It is very convenient to the metro. Even with street repairs occuring during the day, the rooms were very quiet. All of the staff was very helpful. The toiletries come from the on-site spa and are very nice. We would definitely stay again if we return to Montreal.
