Previous postings accurately describe the hotel, with highlights being the large, clean rooms, kitchens, free wifi, laundry facilities, reasonable valet parking rates, helpful concierges, and really nice rooftop pool/deck, No complaints there.

I did not really like the location of the hotel despite others praising its central location. Rue Katherine is a pretty busy commercial street with a lot of seedy people. No one bothers you, but when I go on a vacation, I guess I am selfish and like to see the world as I would like it to be and not as it is. The kid friendly stuff is really centered in the old town/port area, which is a 25 minute walk from the hotel. The subway is very good, but it gets to be a drag to have to use it constantly. Again, in the real world, subway is fine. On vacation, I prefer convenience. So in sum, if you are on business or maybe a couple without kids, the hotel is probably good value, but with kids, i would recommend choosing closer to the old town/port or bypassing Montreal altogether.

I was not a big fan of Montreal as a family destination. The Botanical Gardens are nice, but pales in comparison to the ones in Vancouver and even falls short of Longwood Gardens, which is in the Philadelphia area. The Jean Talon market is vastly overrated and is out of the way and in a rather shoddy neighborhood. The amusement park, La Ronde, was nothing special. In all, the old town is nice, but falls well short of Quebec City. The crepes are good, of course.

The town may be fun for a couple given it is biker friendly, but if I did it over I would have combined Vermont/Quebec City or Main/Quebec City and eliminated Montreal from my plans.

a great place to stay! We go up to Montreal for an overnight stay a couple times a year. We've tried lots of hotels there over the years, and find ourselves coming back to Le Square Phillips. Great shopping at Les Ailes, just a block away, and easy access to the subway. The staff are friendly and efficient and the rooms are comfortable and roomy. The breakfast is not great, but we just go to the Second Cup a few doors away. We've stayed in a lot of hotels that looked as nice but turned out to be terribly noisy - I never hear a thing from other rooms at Le Square Phillips and the beds (even the sofa beds!!) are suprisingly comfy (a big thing for me). We always end up walking to Chinatown for food to eat on our drive home. It's not that far and is easy to get to.

We spent one week at this hotel on the 6th floor. We were quite surprised having a fully equipped kitchen, ( stove, microwave, fridge,dishwasher,toaster,coffee-maker and kettle) Utensils were adequate right down to a wine-opener, this was very convenient for us as we invited 2 friends to share snacks and drinks before going to dinner. A continental breakfast was served every morning. ( juices, cereals, yogurt, muffins, bagels, croissants and waffles.) If you decide to do grocery shopping there is a full market just 3 blocks away.
The hotel is earth-friendly and provides re-cycling bins in the rooms. Our room maid Rosa is a gem , kept everything in order.
Would we go back ??? definitely !

We really liked this hotel. Centrally located, valet parking, friendly staff, HUGE immaculately clean rooms with full kitchen ( limited crockery though) + free wi-f, continental breakfast included in the room price. An added plus was the roofdeck and pool, and there's even an inexpensive laundry facility with a view of the cbd !
This hotel is a great choice for families in need of spacious rooms and looking for the possibility of eating in rather than out.

We visited with our 11 and 5yo boys. The rooms was just immense. We stayed in a suite with one queen and one double (sleeper sofa). The room had an eat-in kitchen and walk-in closet. The hotel was clean and the staff was mostly friendly. The rooftop pool was nice, clean yet small. It cost us around $160/night before taxes. Parking was expensive at around $30/night (valet only). There were lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, and it was a quick walk to the Old Montreal area (mostly downhill). We'd stay there again in a second!

We hadn't heard of Le Square Phillips before we decided to stay 3 nights there two weeks ago. During our one previous visit to Montreal, we were at the W Hotel in Victoria Square. We were glad to be at Le Square Phillips this time around. While the W was plush and heavenly, Le Square Phillips was much more practical and better situated, and had some of the best service of any hotel we'd stayed in before. The suite we were at was also the most generously sized suite we'd even been in. The kitchen was well-stocked and allowed us to dine in, keeping food costs down. (Besides, produce in Montreal is amazing, and we were glad to have been able to sample it in the comforts of our hotel room. A salad and some smoked meat and good bread from one of the many bakeries-- yum!) The free breakfast was continental, but great to start the day with, and the pool was small but well-kept, and long enough to get a proper lap swim in. And it was nice to have free wi-fi, as we had to do some work while we were away. We highly recommend this hotel for families, and for anyone staying long-term.

This hotel was by far the nicest we stayed at on our road trip, if we ever went back to Montreal this is the place I would stay. I can't speak about any other hotels in Montreal but this one deserves a high rating. Nice friendly staff, great rooms, nice breakfast on the second floor. loved the pool on the roof with a great view of downtown Montreal. within walking distance of many attractions.
