We stayed in a one-bedroom family suite and it was perfect for our family of five - 2 adults and our 3 children aged 3, 6 and 8. It was very spacious. My brother and sister also stayed in the hotel at the same time in studio suites (family of 4 and 3) and were impressed by the size. There wasn't actually that much of a size difference but we had a separate bedroom and also a larger kitchen area. The place was spotless. We enjoyed the roof top pool although we our party of 12 we filled it up and others arrived and understandably ignored the size that indicated the limit was 12 people. Breakfast was fairly crowded on the weekends and when some items ran out they were not replaced but the selection was good and I always appreciate breakfast being included.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July and I cannot recommend it highly enough. On arrival we were given an upgrade to a huge suite, which was fabulous. It is centrally located downtown and has a lovely rooftop swimming pool which kept everyone happy. The breakfast was plentiful (a buffet) if not very exciting. All in all I would recommend this hotel 100%. It is fabulous value for money.

Just spent 3 nights here, the room was huge with a kitchen and dining table. it also had a massive, very comfortable bed. The location was great, very central. Continental breakfast was provided and was fine. Perhaps a little unneccessary as we had the kitchen to make toast etc. If breakfast was going to be available maybe it would have been better to have a hot option. There was also a small gym and pool on the roof, which was nice to have also a useful cheap laundry room. The only real problem we had was with housekeeping, there was no directory in the room outlining the hotel's services so we had to constantly call reception to ask questions regarding the pool, breakfast etc, When we asked reception about the directory we were told to call housekeeping for it, when we did, housekeeping refused to send it up, saying it was unavailable and were actually quite rude to us. This was all a bit of a shame and unnecessary. Also the kettle in the room was unusable as it was pouring out black bits in the water. We daren't call housekeeping! Apart from these small problems, we would still recommend.

We spent two nights at the Le Square Phillips. We were greeted very warmly by staff at reception when we arrived. Our room was large and spacious. It had a full kitchen at one end of the large room, a table for 4, a somewhat firm but comfortable bed, an easy chair, TV, full closet and other nooks and cubbyholes for belongings. We liked the exceptionally high ceilings (guessing they are 16 - 20 feet) which gave the room an open and airy feeling. We had 2 windows overlooking a street. Bathroom was typical of any hotel, nothing special. Our "very good" rating for the sleep quality is based on our preference for a somewhat softer mattress but we had no trouble sleeping on the firm mattress. Good pillows. Hotel was very quiet during our stay. Breakfast was included in the price and was ample. It was self-serve with huge urns of different types of coffee, hot water for tea, 2 large hotel-style toasters for bagels, bread, etc., cereal, fruit, yogurt. We paid 182 Canadian for a Thurs and 162 for Fri. The hotel also has a concierge service and Wi-Fi.

The location is excellent as it is between Rue Ste.-Catherine and Boul. Rene-Levesque and close to Montreal's underground shopping malls and several Metro stops. It is bounded by Sherbrooke St and McGill Univ. to the north, U of Quebec-Montreal to the east, and Vieux Montreal and the port to the South. It was a fairly easy walk for us to visit the restaurants and shops in the Rue Prince Arthur-Rue St. Laurent area to the northeast. There is also a decent pizzeria a few doors away.

This is a really nice and friendly hotel. The rooms aren't ultra-fancy or high-design, but if you're looking for a place to stay with your family, especially with a kitchen, this hotel is perfect. The pool is smallish, but so pretty, and up on the roof, which makes it fun. Everything is very clean.
The staff was so friendly and helpful.
We found that we could walk to many of our destinations, and were close to the subway, even when the concierge or doorman suggested a cab.
It's not much of a lobby and it's not on the prettiest street, but we felt so welcome by the staff and had a great time. It is a good value.
Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights 3 years ago and right then and there I decided that this will be THE hotel for us in Montreal. We booked a 2 bdrm suite for a night in August during our return leg from Atlantic Canada to Toronto. The vehicle was valeted for the night so we skipped the nightmare of having the van valeted everytime you make a quick stop at the hotel.
The rooms all have high ceilings, huge windows, kitchens if you so desired to cook your own meals. When I'm on vacation, I do not cook but it's nice to have the choice. Beds are comfortable, bathroom well stocked, lots of lights so the rooms are bright. Elevators are small though but it's an old building so we accept the minor inconveniences.
Love the location of the hotel. It's central and you can walk anywhere from there. We walked to Chinatown, the old port, the art museum and beyond. Ste. Catherine can be trashy at night but that's part of the charm. Unfortunately the stretch towards the village is under heavy construction but it's not the hotel's fault.
If you're traveling with teen and early 20's kids, make sure you send them out to Simons to shop for clothes. It's trendy and not overpriced.
Continental breakfast is complimentary on the 2nd floor. Not a lot of choices but when faced with real Montreal bagels with cream cheese, nothing else mattered.
We stayed one night but was presented with a $700+ bill. CHECK your bill! We got charged for one week's parking instead of overnight but it was promptly credited to our credit card. Whew!
This hotel is located between Ste. Cath and Rue Rene so you do hear a fair bit of sirens back and forth but strangely enough, it did not disturb my sleep.

Me and my husband just came back from Montreal after a 3 day anniversary weekend getaway over Labor Day weekend. We arrived 2 hours earlier and checked in within 5 minutes. Our car was valet in a secure parking garage attached to the hotel. The breakfast is decent and there is free wi-fi available. The hotel is a block from St.Catherine's Street ,a main shopping street, and abhout 5 blocks from Crescent street with bars and restaurant, very vibrant at night. It is also a couple of blocks from the Museum of Contemporary Art and within walking distance from Old Montreal, maybe about 20 minute walk.Once there check out Poutine,a local restaurant for some great poutine and smoked meat sandwiches.Another great restaurant only a few blocks down from the hotel is Holder, delicios food and good wine choices.Hope you enjoy your stay in the great city of Montreal!!!!
