My wife and I stayed at the Nelligan a few times way way back, our last few visits however we couldn't get rooms. This trip complete with teenagers in tow, we managed to get two rooms and by memory cheaper this time around, and the hotel did the rest for us!

The rooms - linens, lights, entertainment, chairs, everything is great quality, if not the best certainly good enough or better. BUT for us - it's the staff that makes it so great. The best part? They don't even seem to be trying to please you, they make it so natural that it almost seems surreal at times.

For me the hotel is beautiful, well-appointed and all that, as are so many hotels in and around the old City, but the experience is far greater than you'd expect!

We stayed for a long weekend (Feb-Mar) during Montreal Festival de Lumiere. We wanted to stay in Vieux Montreal and Hotel Nelligan doesn't disappoint. We stayed in a Petit Suite and loved the whirlpool bath after a day of walking around in the cold. There is a fireplace but decorative only. Still, the ambiance was nice. What sets this hotel apart is the staff. Extremely helpful Concierge staff (Maud and others) and front desk ( Claude and others). Always there to answer a question or recommend. The location is perfect!

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Nelligan during the Montreal en Lumiere Festival this past weekend. We have stayed at numerous hotels in Old Montreal but none compared to this hotel. The staff are amazing. I can't say enough about the service we received during our stay...from the very welcoming reception desk to the responsive and helpful valet service upon our arrival. The waiters and waitresses at the restaurant and bar were very friendly. On our first night, we reviewed the dinner menu at the restaurant in the Hotel, called Verses. We were pleasantly surprised to know that the Hotel had invited a Chef from San Francisco to prepare a menu for two nights during that weekend for the festival. We had ann 11-course dinner with the wine pairing that was delicious. Our room was very spacious, modern and clean. It was perfect for us. It had everything that we needed. It also had a fireplace and a jaccuzzi tub. The location was great, not too close but not too far from the festival site. We plan on staying there again and highly recommend it to others.

I attended a conference at this hotel and stayed 2 nights. From the moment I pulled up in the cab to the moment I pulled away, the bilingual staff were there with a smile and a real passion to make sure I was happy and well taken care of. The rooms were very nicely furnished and the exposed brick facade was a nice touch for old Montreal. I ate dinner at their restaurant that is attached to the hotel but a separate entrance and the staff there were just as friendly. Maybe it is the French culture but everyone was positive and happy to help out. Areas to improve: the desk in the room didn't have power easily accessible - you had to get on your knees under the desk to plug in. The bathroom lighting was above you not in font of you making it difficult to shave and brush hair and the shaving mirror was not close to the sink so you couldn't use it. There appears to be very minor repairs that need to be done where the shower head needed to be fixed where it came out of the wall. All in all I would say this was a great place to stay in the very heart of Old Montreal with galleries and shops and the waterfront seconds away. There is no pool at this hotel.

Spent two great nites at Hotel Nelligan on March 1st 2014. A great welcome once we got there. Got up into our room a little early then the 3pm check in time. Had two complimentary drinks at the bar. Very knowledgeable staff.

The room was as described. Very clean, spacious. The king bed was very comfortable. Our room had a so called 'fireplace' but wouldn't really describe it as that. It wasn't really a fireplace that you turn on and off. It was on all the time and it appears it was just a heater that had a light in the back that flickered to appear like fire. The light generated was very low so it didn't bother us when we slept.

Truly a great experience. I would recommend this one to anyone :+)
