“Excellent hotel in every way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

This hotel is in a prime location right in the middle of the old town. First we thought we might not be able to drive right up to it because it is pedestrian area but you can. I had mailed beforehand and requested a quiet room. We were given a brilliant room on the third floor. Space enough for the complimentary extra bed for our son. The bathroom was very big and nicely designed. The beds were so comfy that we slept forever... Don't miss a visit to the rooftop bar which has great views, an interesting range of drinks and lovely food! I would go back to this hotel any time!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pedestrian area are noisier.

We got back recently from our first trip to Montreal. We loved staying at Hotel Nelligan! It was the perfect location in Old Montreal. We enjoyed the feeling of being in Europe and the cobblestone streets. Our room was very spacious and cozy and we liked the exposed brick. We were on the 5th floor and it was very quiet as we didn't hear anyone in the hallways, from other rooms, or from the from the popular rooftop bar on the floor above us. We walked easily to many good restaurants and it was a quick walk to the metro. The concierge set us up on a 1/2 day bike tour around the city that was a lot of fun. Nathalia and Maude, the concierge, were excellent. Claude and Mathieu at the front desk were great as well as the valets, Nicolas and Manuel. The staff really went out of their way to make us comfortable. We mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary and they sent chocolate covered strawberries to our room. This is a top-notch hotel and provided us with a great first taste of Montreal. We will definitely go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the quieter street away from St. Paul Street.

We loved this hotel.

My Family and I stayed here for a week in July 2014 and were consistently surprised by the quality of the service and the overall experience of this hotel.

The first thing to know about the Nelligan is location. If there is a more central location in Old Montreal, I was unable to find it. We had ready access to all the shops, restaurants and attractions that make that part of town so enjoyable. In addition, there is a metro station just over the hill that will take you anywhere else in the city you might want to go.

Next, the room and building. Our room was very nice. Third floor, back of the building on a quiet back street. Exposed brick with lots of character. Everything was very clean and well appointed. All that and the shower was adjustable, which is handy for a tall guy....
The hotel itself is beautiful as well. Lots of seating in the lobby and downstairs area. The open atrium through the top floors is an added bonus. Very clean and well maintained.

The staff was magnifique. Rarely do you find a more competent and solicitous group as at this hotel. At every turn our needs were predicted, and when we actually had to ask for something the response was prompt and on the money. I also highly recommend the concierge desk. My intention on this trip was to "get lost" with my family in Montreal so we only used their services for a couple of dinner reservations, but I watched them manage just about everything else for other guests.

One more thing....The terrace bar on the roof was outstanding and was a great place to spend an afternoon. The Nelligan Julep is a great summer afternoon drink for a beautiful day.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Montreal as a first time visitor or someone who is just looking for a different angle on an "old friend"

The hotel is located in the heart of old Montreal, on the cobbled street of rue Saint Paul. The hotel was kind enough to give us an upgrade for our wedding anniversary. The junior suite was very spacious and comfortable, with its own fire place.
The street is lived with popular restaurants, and a lively bar where we watched the World Cup. A very charming hotel.

This hotel is very quant & charming. Our room had great character. We loved the big windows & brick walls. Five star amenities were available to make you feel very pampered. Fun terrace bar & good food in the restaurant. The staff is very friendly & accommadating. The conceirge staff were especially helpful. We truly were catered to. The location completed this perfect hotel. We could walk to the river, historical sites, lots of shopping opportunities, & an immense number of restaurants. Also, buses & subway were a short walk away. Couldn't have had anything better!

This boutique hotel exceeded my expectations - in every way, the room, service, wine & cheese, etc. The details of this hotel make all the difference and you will feel spoiled. It is also very convenient for walking and shopping in Old Montreal and a short cab (or subway) trip to shopping on Crescent and St. Catherine.

If you like exposed brick and black furniture mixed with historical touches, this is a fine choice. We were given a large comfortable room with big windows, fireplace and jacuzzi.Service is generally great and very attentive. There were no towels in the fitness center either day and no water the second day but that was the only misstep.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front are large and nice
