My sister and I decided to treat ourselves to a weekend in Old Montreal and attend the Montreal Reggae Festival. We arrived Friday afternoon for two nights. We enjoyed Room 3 with 2 double beds and a view out into the courtyard. A little pricey but so is every where else in the neighbourhood. The convenience though of being closed by to all the action, within walking distance, made it worthwhile.
The television is small and channels are limited, but then again whose there to watch TV when there is so much more to do.
The breakfast offered in the morning is another plus and included in the overnight charge. You fill up on that and don't need to eat again until dinner. Fresh fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, bagels and breads, spreads (egg, chicken, spinach), sliced meats, jams juice and coffee or tea.
The hotel also offered to hold our luggage on the last day if we wanted to spend more time in the city if we had a late departure.
The beds were very comfortable - water was hot. The shampoo and conditioner is a combined bottle, you may want to carry your own little extra conditioner for ease of blow drying hair.
I would stay here again most definitely.

Room Tip: We liked Room 3 - 2 double beds - nice view out on to the entrance and just down the hall a door out...

Great location for Old Montreal. Arrived just in time to walk over to the International Fireworks display. Our family rented 2 rooms for 1 night. Room #4 had 2 beds and a door leading to an outside rooftop courtyard. Loved that! Room #5 had a ceiling window that had curtains, but it didn't block the daylight well. Rooms and bathrooms were small but adequate. Stairway was narrow and could be a problem for the elderly, large or handicapped people. Breakfast was delicious: deli meats and cheeses, bagels, breads, fruit salad, cereal, yogurt, 3 spreads (egg salad, chicken salad and spinach), jams, coffee and juice. This B&B is on a busy street but we didn't hear any noise in our rooms. We would recommend this B&B if you want to be close to Old Montreal.

Room Tip: Room #4 upstairs had 2 beds and a door that leads to a rooftop courtyard.

The four of traveled together to Montreal before getting on the cruise ship. This hotel is located in Old Town, Montreal and what a GREAT location indeed it is. The desk young ladies were very helpful any time we had questions and the morning breakfast was certainly everything we needed to get the day started. Having breakfast start a little before 9:00 would have been helpful but this is a minor thing. The air conditioner worked great especially since it was almost 80 degrees everyday of our trip.
The people in Montreal were unbelievably friendly and helpful[ especially when offering to carry my wife's luggage up the steps from the subway. There are so many restaurants close to this hotel, museums, the Notre Dame Basilica, the St. Lawrence riverway [ Cirque de Soleil] was perhaps 800 meters away. Our 2nd visit to Montreal, we will hopefully stay here at the Auberge Bonsecours once again.

Room Tip: The front rooms may get some noise from the restaurant very close by but not sure that this can be a...

We spent two nights at the Auberge Bonsecours, the room was comfortable and it is in a great location. The continental breakfast provided a good start to the day. There is a restaurant in the alleyway which can get a little noisy but did not bother us. A good value for the location, the staff was friendly and helpful.

My father and I, on a spur of the moment decision, decided to go to Quebec Montreal. When we first arrived to hotel Auberge Bonsecours, it was as if we stepped back in time as it were. We came in what could probably be considered the "off" season for Montreal (During the Winter Months). The guest services here have been extremely friendly and helpful, they are happy to speak either French or English to you. If you are English, work on your French, but as soon as they hear how horrible your French is, they might just start speaking English to you... The food every morning was really nice, fresh, and always on time. The rooms were also always clean when we came back after our daily travels. We were also the only ones in the Hotel at the time of our vacation, which was nice.

The guest services will be extremely happy to help you in finding anything to do around town. Whether it be museums, cathedrals, or the happening place to eat for the night. The location ended up being perfect for us, Old Port is just right out the front door, with many things to do and see. Ocean Cruise, Science Center, Little Boutique Shops, Catholic Basilica etc...

If you are wanting to head downtown, it doesn't take much to buy a week long public transport pass, and the subways are actually really super clean. I can honestly say that I didn't see one single Rat the entire time my father and I were traveling using the subway stations. The city was really clean, not much trash on the ground, my father says that the Quebecois really pride themselves on the beauty of there city, and don't like seeing trash and stuff all over the place. My father and I also did our share of picking up trash and such while we were here in the city. Which isn't to hard considering there are recycling bins on pretty much every street corner.

Overall the people have been great, the rooms were really cozy, the food has been superb.

The Auberge Bonsecours is in the midst of old Montreal, facing the Marché Bonsecours. You enter through a porch, and the auberge is hidden way behind the houses. More silent you cannot find. Everything inside is neat and exquisitely refurbished. All this at a very reasonable price. There is a paying parking lot two houses away, where you can park 24 hours. And the restaurant "Les 400 coups", which I reviewed and is extraordinary, is just one block away. You just have to stroll. By then you are not hungry anymore, but l'Auberge is a B and B , providing free continental breakfast. Jams are well chosen and multiple. And they are not in garden variety plastic containers. Bread could be improved, and this would be welcome, because it is not up to the rest...You can do without eggs.....

I stayed at the Auberge Bonsecours in mid-August. What a wonderful place it was. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The first thing I noticed was that the hotel smelled clean. No faint odor of mold, like a lot of places I have stayed. The rooms were clean and a mix of modern and old history. Some of the interior walls are stone. It went very well with the antique furniture scattered throughout the hotel. The beds and pillows were the best. Breakfast was included in my stay, but I was leaving before the assigned breakfast time. The wonderful young lady at the reception desk said no worry, I will put something out for you anyway. The dining room was beautiful. Antique table and side boards, captured the old hospitality that we only hear about from the old days. The breakfast was continental style, but of the highest quality. Superb stay. I will definitely go back there again.
