“friendly hosts, great location”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We booked the "cottage" (really just a little two-story apartment) at BBV for our three days in Montreal, and it was just perfect. The hosts were very friendly and eager to give us directions and advice for exploring the city. Breakfast was not fancy, but there was a huge selection and the hosts always offered to cook eggs to order. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space and a kitchenette so we could pack our lunches etc. The location was also great - within the village, and walking distance to the old city and to Rue Saint-Dennis. We plan to stay here again on our next visit to Montreal!

My husband and I stayed at this wonderfully-run and incredibly conveniently located B&B this past week. I have so many great things to say, so I'm going to cover them by category.

General: This was one of the most affordable inns we found with an en suite bathroom. To top it off, we had private off-street parking for the entirety of our stay for $10 a day. In fact, Nicolas and Philippe allowed us to leave the car in their private lot for the bulk of our last day (after we had checked out, but still hoped to do some exploring). As parking at tourist destinations in Montreal can be difficult to find, expensive, or both, this was an absolute boon. Couple the excellent parking amenity with the close proximity (about a block away) of the Beaudry metro stop, and there wasn't a single site/area of interest that was out of reach. Indeed, we usually got to where we wanted to go within 20 minutes and at most one subway transfer.

Room: We stayed in Room 11 which, as I mentioned before, has an en suite bathroom. Both the room and the bathroom were spotless. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. I particularly liked the memory-foam pillows. The only potential problem I can see for a guest (and I should add that this was not an issue for us) is that there isn't a whole lot of room for luggage. There is, however, a very useful armoire/cabinet where you can hang up your clothes, and drawers in the bedside tables where you can empty your bags. These coupled with the one luggage stand in the room was plenty for us. The room was cleaned, and our bed was made every afternoon while we were away, and we got fresh linens and towels on the second afternoon of our stay. This refreshment certainly made coming back to the room a welcome experience.

Breakfast: The breakfast was simple, elegant, and filling. Nicolas served us freshly baked croissants, homemade jams, egg-and-cheese sandwiches, interesting cheeses (havarti, brie, etc.), freshly-cut fruit, yogurts, breads, scrambled or half-fried eggs, milk, juices, and coffee/tea. A fortifying breakfast, indeed. We also really liked that breakfast was served at a long beautiful wooden table in the kitchen. This encouraged conversation with the other guests and our hosts from whom we got some excellent tips about Montreal.

Hosts: As you have probably already surmised, Philippe and Nicolas were wonderful. I would also like to make a special note of Kimberly, a friend of theirs who hosted us for one day while Philippe and Nicolas went on a brief trip. Just like Philippe and Nicolas, she prepared a delicious breakfast for us and was incredibly helpful in giving us advice about things to do and eat (a beloved pastime of ours!) in Montreal. Her enthusiasm and joy was infectious!

Philippe and Nicolas were by far the Hosts a guest can ask for, especially for a first time stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Montréal! Thank you very much gentlemen, you made us feel so welcome and your home was absolutely cozy! You knew so much about the area and gave us such wonderful advice about the area and what locations to see! If you want a truly beautiful welcoming place to stay in Montréal, this is the destination to stay. You will be able to find so many places to go via Metro or Taxi!

It was our second B&B experience. After the first one, I was considering going back to traditional hotels. After staying in BBV I changed my mind and decided it might be a very good alternative to hotels, provided it is carefully chosen. Bed and Breakfast du Village has everything you can wish for - excellent location, very nice, helpful hosts, beautifully decorated and very clean rooms, plentiful breakfasts. It certainly deserves its high rating.

Philippe and Nicolas were very welcoming and helpful in suggesting what to see and eat in Montreal. The B&B is immaculate and anything you want, you just need to ask. We would definitely stay there again. Although in the middle of a busy neighbourhood, the B&B is on a side street so it's very quiet at night, which is a bonus. The location is great - everything is within walking distance.

Room Tip: We had a small room with a shared bathroom, and there were no issues at all. Other guests were quiet...

Absolutely fantastic! The rooms are exactly as pictured; CLEAN, well decorated, not cramped at all. The bed was super comfortable. I love the big country kitchen, and the terrace to enjoy my morning coffee. Feels just like home!
Right in the heart of the village and a 20 minute walk to Old Montréal.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful, and Knowledgeable about the area.
We HIGHLY recommended that you stay here. We will be back!!

We stayed here the F1 weekend at the start of our first trip to Canada. The glowing reviews made it an easy choice and it proved to be perfect for us. Philippe and Nicholas are truly welcoming hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The `Village` is such a vibrant community with a diverse population and BBV is right in the centre of it. We soon learnt the best walking route to the Old Town and the main sites and Rue Ste Catherine took us most areas we wanted to go. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again. Thanks guys.

Room Tip: We were in room 10 on ground floor at rear with en-suite. Small but perfect.
