“Cute hotel, friendly staff”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer! Staff were friendly and even offered to give us tips about the city when we checked in late around 11pm. We were in room 305 and at first it felt small, but we got used to it. It was clean, comfortable, but it took a while to figure out the air conditioning and how to get the right temperature. The room was beside the elevator so I was worried about noise, but it was all pretty quiet during our stay and we didn't have any noise problems.

The complimentary breakfast basket outside your door was a great touch: even though it was just simple food (croissants, muffins, fruit, cheese, yogurt, juice box), I liked being able to have breakfast in bed before heading out to start the day. The kitchen has more complimentary breakfast food (bagels, cereal, bread, oatmeal) if you're still hungry! The free snacks (cheese, crackers, cookies, dried fruit) were also nice when we were taking a break at the hotel, or just for late night munchies!

This hotel also had some extra "green" features: soap/shampoo dispensers instead of individual bottles and real napkins and cutlery!

Good location right across from Metro access and close to Bixi stations, lots of shops and restaurants on Rue St. Denis.

Overall, a comfortable place to stay with a nice homely feel!

Room Tip: The hotel website has photos and descriptions of each of the rooms.

This cute, relatively quiet (with a north side room) and affordable mini-hotel is staffed by its friendly owners. Rooms are eclectic, but endearing. Price includes a simple, basket-style continental breakfast.

Pros: north-facing rooms are quiet, with charming touches in artwork & lighting. The location is superb for travellers seeking to immerse themselves in the Quartiers des Spectacles, Latin Quarter and the Village.

Cons: most rooms need a deep cleaning and thorough dusting. Several lighting fixtures did not work. The basket breakfast, with its small, packaged items, produced quite a bit of waste — an in-house option would produce less refuse.

Room Tip: Book on the north side and top floor for quiet rooms.

This is a well-kept little hotel close to the Old Town. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The dining room with snacks was a welcome addition as we wandered in and out. The breakfast baskets were well-stocked (croissants, muffins, cheese, yogurt, juice), and a nice change, although we still had to go downstairs to get hot water for our tea so it wouldn't taste like coffee. It is also right across the street from the Metro which makes things convenient, the Beri-UQAM Hub. The Standard Room is pretty basic and small. The surrounding neighborhood felt a tad sketchy, especially after dark, and appears to be a higher-than average crime area based on a report from the Canadian government.

Room Tip: Consider the upgrade to Superior, or see if you can get a picture of your room before booking, as ea...

We initially booked here for a week and extended it to 10 days because we were so satisfied with the value for money and the helpful staff. A nice touch was that coffee and snacks were available free from 3-11 p.m. Continental breakfast is included and left in a basket outside the room doors in the morning. Clean, nicely decorated, rather quaint. I recommend it highly. Our initial room was on the small side, but we were upgraded at no charge after a few days.

I visited Montreal from May 8th to May 13th and I stayed in the Auberge Pomerol for 3 nights. It was a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay. With our limited French, they made us feel real comfortable. The room was gorgeous. The superior/Jacuzzi room was amazing. They thought of everything from the plates and cutlery in the room, mini fridge, to the breakfast that they delivered every morning. It was a great surprise to have a continental breakfast delivered in a picnic basket. It is exactly what everyone described in all of the other reviews. It was cute and romantic. The area was a bit sketchy at night and wouldn't recommend venturing out after dark. The area is not as friendly in the night as it is in the day. We had problems finding something to eat later on in the night, but we just had a plan to get food in the afternoon and warm it up for dinner in their kitchen which was fully stocked with cheese, crackers, and other things that one could make a quick snack with. It was a great hotel and great staff. Would definitely go again.

Room Tip: I stayed in the superior room with Jacuzzi. So worth it.

Le Pomerol was clean, nicely decorated, and provided food. The continental breakfast provided wasn't exceptional but it was nice to not have to go out to breakfast every morning. The bathroom was really clean, had a nice jacuzzi tub, and was bright. The coffee maker in the room was pretty clean but I hate powdered coffee whitener. There is creamers provided downstairs in the little kitchen and in the breakfast basket though. There were a lot of lamps in the room too, I liked that. I would stay here again. It is a block from the Greyhound bus station, so convenient. Anywhere else I wanted to go was maybe a 10-20 minute walk. It is not right in the middle of where the action is but it is definitely only a short walk away. I ate dinner in the attached restaurant one night of my stay and it was absolutely delicious! I was a bit worried it would be way overpriced and too fancy for my budget but when I got the bill I was surprised it was less than I was expecting. All the dishes were a reasonable price, especially since they were so delicious!
