“great place to stay in montreal!”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

hotel le st andre is a really great place to stay. they were very nice and professional. we stayed one night, and then returned 4 days later. both nights we had access to the back parking lot, (first come first served). it worked out great for us. this hotel is in walking distance (15 min) from just about everything - all of the different neighborhoods. front desk were friendly, nice, and sociable. it's a no frills place, but it is comfortable, clean, and serves a good breakfast - (coffee, juice, croissants , and bread). all reasonably priced, and a very good deal. we stayed in july, 2014, sorry for the late review.

Room Tip: centrally located, great price, provides everything you need for one night, or several nights, i wou...

First, this is a great deal. Unfortunately, the hotel really needs a facelift. The rugs in the halls are pretty tired looking. On the positive side, the staff is excellent. Breakfast is delivered to your room each morning on time. The front desk clerks are very helpful and friendly. The woman who cleaned our room worked very hard and did a great job being an older building, there is some noise transference from room to room. However, it was quiet at night even though I'm gay pride weekend. I would happily return

We stayed at Hotel Le Saint Andre for our entire time in Montreal, and we found it very agreeable. You really can't beat the location - it's just off of Rue St. Catherine so you're very near to festivals and nightlife, as well as the river. The rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly. Maybe the best part (for us) was the A/C! The hotel did get noisy at night, which was our only real complaint.

I wish there was something between average and very good as I would give this hotel probably a good. Pros include excellent location (though the neighborhood can look a little sketchy in spots), close to metro, bus station, Old Montreal, Plateau, etc, efficient and friendly service, love the croissants and juice, coffee/tea delivered to the rooms. Cons are a hotel in the midst of renovations so lots of work everywhere, pretty dated and threadbare rooms, and on the smaller side on the whole. But overall pretty decent value. It's not really fair to give this a four star rating but neither is it to give it a three.

After booking this hotel on Hotwire and reading some negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and attentive service at this hotel. Convenient location and great value make this an excellent choice for short visits. While there was some noise in the hall as guests returned for the night, it was no worse than what I've experienced at pricier hotels in other large cities.

We stayed for 1 night only in April on our way to Quebec City. It's a charming old building & renovations are clearly underway. It will only get better as the work continues.

PROS:
1/. Location - centrally located in the heart of the city, near metro stops & within walking distance of bars, shops & restaurants without being right on the main street.

2/. Continental breakfast was included & was brought to our room (surprise!). It was lovely, simple & typically French - warm croissants & fresh bread - yummy! It was lovely to be able to eat in our pjs while planning the next leg of our trip.

3/. Check in & out was speedy & staff was friendly & helpful.

4/. Large room recently renovated - beautiful (new looking) hardwood flooring & contemporary colours & furnishings.

5/. Room was fairly large (bigger than I expected) & very clean.

CONS:
1/. see #4 above - although recently renovated, it seems the renos are a bit of an unfinished DIY project - sloppy paint job, missing closet doors, some outlet covers are missing. Although the room looked recently updated, the hallways did not - shabby carpet & badly in need of some paint.

2/. No onsite parking - although there is street parking available & at the time we arrived it was plentiful, likely not true for mid day or through the week as this is a busy part of town.

I would stay again.

Was only for one night at this hotel.
The rooms are very clean, the staff friendly and the breakfast (bringing to room) adequate.
The hotel is centrally located in the city. The bus stop to the airport is about 500m away.
At this low price, highly recommended.
