“Gorgeous and clean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2013

Old building but looks nice like a palace. The Breakfast was so good. First of all, this hotel is near downtown, so very convinient to access to city's center. Room is clean. At the balcony, you can see the river and the beautiful color of sunset.
For me, the staff are so kind. When I left my shirt and asked to ship the shirt, they were so kind that they shipped my item on their cost..

I have stayed at Manoir Ville Marie a few times now and go back next week. The owners & staff could not be nicer. They are always renovating the rooms. The experience gets better each time. This is a great place to stay in Montreal. All rooms have Wi-Fi, parking and free continental breakfast. The breakfast room can also be used anytime of day or night to make yourself a coffee or tea, etc. This is my new place to stay in Montreal. My sister might try it also.

OK, let's start with the place itself. It does not have a hotel feel, but it is not what comes to mind when one mentions a B&B. It is more like having a quasi hostel in a quirky building, actually an old post office. My room was way bigger than I expected. It included a small refrigerator. The furnishings were somewhat old. The building, as mentioned by other reviewers, had a bit of a funny smell. Opening the windows helped with that. The curtains had one translucent panel instead of two solid panels, but that helped me wake up early. I lucked out in that the evenings were cool, but the lack of control of the ac could have been an issue otherwise.

The neighborhood, not exactly Boardwalk/Park Place, but nowhere near as dismal as some reviews would make it out to be. There are some industrial buildings in R.Rouen, but there are predominantly average residential buildings in the area. In fact, nearer to the metro, some new units are in construction. Bus 34, across the street from the hotel, takes you right to the Papineu Metro stop. Alternatively, you can do a 10 minute walk up rue Prefontaine to the eponymous Metro station.

The wifi connection was strong. I just did basic e-mail and wiki travel research, not streaming or heavy downloading, but all worked smoothly .

The breakfast was included in the price. Nothing but basic, but don't look a gift horse, etc...

So would I recommend it? It would depend on the individual's tolerance for the aforementioned. With a little patience, it may grow on you

This place was a really cute little establishment. We were skeptical at first due to it's surrounding locations but that that skepticism was soon dismissed as we went inside. The owner was wonderful and suggested a lot of wonderful activities to do the day of and for the continuation of our stay. She gave indepth instructions on how to get everywhere for those without a car and gave suggestions for our time there both for sightseeing and for food. She was really friendly and made our stay all the better.

The hotel is quiet, plenty of places to spend if you are with someone. The room was very clean and extremely quiet. When we woke up in the morning, we thought the place was mostly empty, and the complimentary breakfast was fairly sparse and you might consider going out for breakfast to one of the little cafes parceled out throughout Old Montreal.

Directly opposite the hotel is the bus stop which will take you 10 minutes to the subway station and major parts of the city. There is also a terrace on the second floor where you can sit outside and it provides a view of the St. Lawrence River which is beautiful at night.

Overall I would recommend this hotel for those who are on a budget and would like a lovely cozy accommodation while on their stay in Montreal.

Upon arrival at this great establishment, we were a bit skeptical, but that quickly changed when we got inside. The owner was working at the front desk and she took the time to explain the best way to get around from our location (car, bus, train) and gave suggestions for our time there both for sightseeing and for food, according to our likes. She was incredibly friendly, warm and was willing to speak to us in either French or English (our choice).

The hotel is environmentally friendly (uses natural cleaning and air freshening products, which is also good for people with allergies) and will provide what you need upon request. The room was very clean and extremely quiet. When we woke up in the morning, we thought the place was mostly empty, but the breakfast room (continental breakfast included in the price) was completely full. The bedroom also had a good size refigerator.

The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the metro and a few metro stops away from all of the key areas of the city. There is limited parking on the property premises itself, but there is ample free parking within 1 block of the property. It is completely safe to park your car there and to walk around during the day or night.

It is a small hotel with 20 rooms, and because of that and the owner's attitude, it is a very friendly enviornment in which to stay. The breakfast includes real plates and silverware and has light classical music playing in the background. There is also a terrace on the second floor where you can sit outside and it provides a view of the St. Lawrence River.

We went to Montreal for just one night: we were on a roundtrip through Amerika and Canada. De Lady at the desk was so very kind to help us, zo we could see as much of Montreal as possible in less then 24 hours. (We thank her very much for that!!!) The Rooms were nice and clean and we had a good breakfast.

My girlfriend and I just spent a week here for our first trip to Montreal. How to describe it? It's bigger than a b&b, but more spartan than a conventional hotel. At first we were not impressed, but as the week went on we grew to love our stay. The rooms are cute and overall the hotel is very clean. Our hostess was charming and helpful. It's in the southeastern corner of Montreal and away from where most of the action is, but public transportation is available. As the weather was nice, we opted to walk to the nearest Metro stop...about a 15 minute hike. However a bus comes by that can take you downtown or to another stop. As the other reviewers have mentioned, there are not many amenities, but the price is right. (And since we spent most our time sightseeing, it didn't really matter.) We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Montreal.
