“4 stars despite many inconveniences”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

The place is small. I think there are three tables for four people and two tables for two. Seats are not comfortable. The toilet (2 stars), (I am not gong to use the word washroom) is in the class of third world country standards and if you are not careful you may bump into the pipes that come across the ceiling when you get there if you are taller than 5 feet 11. Good point, the toilet is reasonably clean.
What shines is the quality of the food, original with the perfect mix of spices.
Prices are fair. Average value for price.

“Amazing vibrant home cooked Ethiopian food in a home like atmosphere.”
Reviewed 30 October 2012 via mobile

The food is excellent and is cooked to order In the little kitchen that is the back of this petite and charming restaurant. At East Africa what you see is exactly what you get. There is a woman in the back was carefully patiently cooking each meal one at a time and preparing the complex flavors on a large plate and then she and her husband serve you. They both have day jobs and work very hard and hope to build up a following. I certainly hope they do. I went with a friend from Ghana and we had an amazing time And talking with the owners afterwards. the quality of the food is excellent, and spicy! Service is slow. But if you go there with the understanding that this is really just about one step up from someone's home kitchen you will have a great time. There are only eight tables so you might want to make a reservation. If you don't know the traditions of eating Ethiopian food ask the owners to explain it to you when you get there there. There is no silverware , you eat with the bread And tear off pieces to scoop up the food. But it is so good you'll use every last bit of bread to sop up the juices.
