Stayed here twice over the past two weeks on business. 1st week I had a room that looked into another office building of an inner courtyard - ie no outside view. It didn't matter what time of day you were in your room, the lighting out the one rather small window did not change. The other issue of these rooms is when the nightclub is running downstairs, the noise hits your room, with the sound of "boom, boom, boom" from the music. I had to change rooms the first week at 1am due to this. The 2nd week I had a very nice outside room with an actualy view of the outside world - much better. The staff of the hotel were very helpful in changing my rooms. Other issue is the food for our business meeting was not great. They ran out of sandwiches for one of lunches, leaving several of us standing over the buffett table waiting for something, anything. Also, do you really need to serve asparagas every single time for our lunch? So bottomline, if you like dark hotels, with weird or funky lighting (depending on your tastes), a risk of getting a room that doesn't look outside into the real world, and like to groove to disco while you try to sleep (in some of the rooms), then this place is right up your alley.

We decided to splurge and spend a night at the W Montreal.

When we walked in, the lobby was extremely dark - coming in from the sunshine it was actually difficult to see! Though we requested an early check in, we were told it couldn't be guaranteed, and so our room was not ready when we arrived. However, the hotel did take my cell number and called us when the room was ready.

The room was a park facing room, and was very nice with a large window, nice furnishings. Like many other reviewers, we had a room with a glass shower, which you could see in from the bed... interesting, but fine for us as a couple.

We came back to the hotel after dinner, and it had turned into a club-like atmosphere. We went to the bar where the drinks were really well done, but expensive and took forever even though there were only a dozen people in there.

Overall the service was great, and the room was excellent, but for the price we definitely wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in 705, which was park facing. Very nice.

The hotel was definitely very chic - in fact, I felt as if I wasn't hipster/chic enough to stay there at times. However, the dark hotel corridors and elevators likely helped my situation, as it was very dim generally around the hotel at any time during the day.

The room was spacious, as we were able to fit three of us into the room comfortably (with me staying on the lounge couch) The yellow rubber ducky and Bliss Lab products were great amenities. It took a while to get used to the open concept washroom - fortunately, there was a door for the toilet, but a large shower curtain separated the room from the shower/sink area.

It is definitely a happening hotel at night, as there is a lounge in the evenings. So if you are looking for a quieter room, best is to stay on the upper floors.

The hotel is located in the business area, so aside from a two/three cafes opened on the weekend in Victoria Square, it's fairly quiet. However, the W is a close walk from the central train station (great for our Via Train commute!), Centre Desjardin, and Old Montreal (about ten minutes to each). Great location! We were there during the same weekend as the Montreal Jazz Festival, so it was great being able to walk to it so quickly.

For the price we paid for the room, I would've expected more with the amenities. However, the price you pay for the location is definitely worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are better, for noise reduction

First of all, I loved my stay in Montreal, what a great city!!!

Doreen and Daniel the Insider(Concierge) made our stay memorable!!! Well done guys!
There were several major inconsistencies experienced during our stay. The wait staff at the Lounge bar was bland and we waited for over an 40 mins for 4 drinks with friends and then the staff demanded for a tips, because it was the rule despite the poor service:-( The team member never checked on us during the entire time we were at the lounge bar. The the team member told us off for using the vouchers provided by management. The room division was also inconsistent in making our room. But we LOOOVED Doreen and Daniel superb!!! Great recommendations and extremely attentive:-) Well done guys!! We would return, simply because of you two!!!

Room Tip: Definite the higher room and upgrade...
