“Nice stay, good central location and reasonable price: well done YWCA !!”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

Recently stayed here while in Montreal.

Pros: Location is right in center of downtown Montreal, perfect for exploring all that Montreal has to offer. Price is right, very reasonable. Some rooms have fridges and there is a kitchen in the building to make a meal if you feel so inclined. Wifi signal is strong and good selection of TV channels too. Housekeeping was excellent and reception staff seemed very efficient and polite.

Cons: Because of the location potential for lots of late night noise but the rooms have good soundproofing so this should not be a great problem.

Remember Montreal is to all intents and purposes a French (or Quebecois) speaking city so learn a few key phrases and they will go a long way on your visit.

Also there is a MacDonalds two streets over on St-Catherine up near Concordia University if you want a quick breakfast as the restaurant in the YWCA is rather expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room away from Rene-Levesque and Crescent Streets to get a quiet room.

Stayed here while in Montréal for 2 nights for a Bruins game. 5 minutes from the Bell Center and right on the corner of Crescent street. Shared bathrooms were spotless. We parked at Stanley autoparc a few blocks away and it was really affordable. I highly recommend the Hotel Y!

Great location (just a few blocks away from 2 subway stations and near St. Catherine Street), very clean, quiet and spacious room, with TV and a small fridge. The bathrooms are also spotless. There's a computer for the guests with free internet and a fully equipped kitchen, where you can cook your meals. If you're not into cooking, there are tons of places in the neighborhood where you can have breakfast or dine. I highly recommend this place; it's the best auberge in town. And you can't beat the price!

This hotel gives good value and an excellent location. As a single female traveller, I like the extra security of the front desk, and it was handy for taking (English and French) voice messages as I was in town for a funeral. The staff couldn't do enough to help me find to places, and recommend a good breakfast spot around the corner.
The double room I booked had laminate floors which look nice and are clean and good for people with allergies. The bed was comfy and there were reading lamps on either side. There was a phone in the room to dial out and around, alarm clock, mini fridge and coffee maker, English and French television stations, an iron and ironing board, and hairdryer. Couldn't ask for anything else! The bonus was it's right on the airport bus route - think it's the 3rd stop on the 747 express bus, and a stone's throw from great bars and restaurants on the adjacent Crescent Street.

Room Tip: All rooms for the hotel are on the top floor. There is air conditioning so you don't need to op...

Crescent Street contains a bock of clubs and bars (near the YWCA), two blocks of restaurants and stores (slightly further up the hill), and the amazing, newly-restored Museum of Fine Arts three blocks away.
I've stayed at the YWCA in the "hotel" rooms with private bath on the seventh floor, and with student groups on the sixth floor. Payment is usually due at check-in. On the sixth floor, there is a large, clean shared kitchen area with multiple tables, a small internet room, and lots of reasonably-priced parking lots nearby. There can be a bit of noise late from other hotel guests at night, due to the group-rooms nature of the Auberge de jeunesse, but the walls and windows are well-insulated from the street and clubs nearby. There is a cafe on the first floor of the YWCA (open mornings).

Room Tip: Seventh floor is quieter, with more en suite bathrooms. Sixth floor is great for groups.

The hotel is very good considering its priced and advertised as a hostel-clean and comfortable beds in relatively large rooms, serviced daily with cable television as well. Showers and toilets are shared but clean, was very quiet when I visited (Dec 2011). There is no breakfast included though there is a restaurant attached (Cafe Imagination), I only had breakfast there once, found their portions to be a bit small, it may be best to go to one of the food courts in the underground city where I found you get better value. Very close to the main shopping district on Ste-Catherine Street with access from there to the Underground City at Centre Eaton. The nearest metro station to the hotel is Lucien L'Allier on the Orange Line...its about a 3 minute walk away from the hotel. Free wifi is also a plus.
