Good: Central location (although the Trip Advisor map is inaccurate which did cause us concern when it came to parking), friendly staff, clean room with a fridge. We stayed only one night and were travelling as a family of three having reserved a room with two double beds and an ensuite bath. $120 all in. It was close to many restaurants for dinner and breakfast. And we had fun walking up and down Ste. Catherine.
Bad: no indoor parking which turned out to be a big issue for us since we had a full car moving our daughter from Toronto to New Brunswick for school. An outdoor lot used by the Quality Inn nearby was suggested and we spoke with the lot attendant. He told us there was no one onsite overnight so we felt we took a bit of a risk leaving our car there (though we cleared everything out of the interior, the trunk was jammed full). This was confirmed when we arrived back at the car the next morning and saw a van with Maryland plates only a couple spots from ours had had the window completely smashed. So I would not stay there again with a car but I would definitely stay if I arrived by train/plane/bus. The lot attendant did say there was a possibility to leave the car in the inside parking lot of the nearby Novotel but we did not pursue that lead.
The small room design was not ideal in that the bathroom door was a pocket door with the light switch outside the room. When someone got up in the night, there was no way to turn on the light without disturbing your roommates. Plus, the pocket door really needed some WD40. It was very loud.

Great little clean room at a great price ...except you won't be able to actually sleep there. Heavy room doors SLAM SHUT in their metal frame echoing down tiled hallway whenever another guest comes and goes. 2:00am and SLAM!! woken up. 4:30am SLAM! woken up.... better off in a hostel or spend another 40$ and stay in a real hotel.

I stayed at the Y for one week in July. I stayed at one of the single occupancy rooms with a shared bath. The room has a basin and a fridge. other facilities like laundry and a common kitchen are available but I did not use them. The room was clean and good for the price (about $60 taxes included). It is located in the heart of Montreal, walking distance from great restaurants and attractions. the Montreal central station is also not too far. In the morning, the caffe in the lobby serves up a good breakfast (usually works out to around $8-$9) All in all a good place for a single person on a tight budget.

Recently stayed here while in Montreal.

Pros: Location is right in center of downtown Montreal, perfect for exploring all that Montreal has to offer. Price is right, very reasonable. Some rooms have fridges and there is a kitchen in the building to make a meal if you feel so inclined. Wifi signal is strong and good selection of TV channels too. Housekeeping was excellent and reception staff seemed very efficient and polite.

Cons: Because of the location potential for lots of late night noise but the rooms have good soundproofing so this should not be a great problem.

Remember Montreal is to all intents and purposes a French (or Quebecois) speaking city so learn a few key phrases and they will go a long way on your visit.

Also there is a MacDonalds two streets over on St-Catherine up near Concordia University if you want a quick breakfast as the restaurant in the YWCA is rather expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room away from Rene-Levesque and Crescent Streets to get a quiet room.

Stayed here while in Montréal for 2 nights for a Bruins game. 5 minutes from the Bell Center and right on the corner of Crescent street. Shared bathrooms were spotless. We parked at Stanley autoparc a few blocks away and it was really affordable. I highly recommend the Hotel Y!

Great location (just a few blocks away from 2 subway stations and near St. Catherine Street), very clean, quiet and spacious room, with TV and a small fridge. The bathrooms are also spotless. There's a computer for the guests with free internet and a fully equipped kitchen, where you can cook your meals. If you're not into cooking, there are tons of places in the neighborhood where you can have breakfast or dine. I highly recommend this place; it's the best auberge in town. And you can't beat the price!
