Even thought this B&B is on a busy street across from some restaurants and bars the rooms are VERY QUIET with the windows closed. Innkeeper Denis was extremely helpful and location is great for several good restaurants and using the metro which is easy to follow. Can also get a cab at the doorway within 5 minutes. There are pros and cons about the breakfast and that is why I gave it a 4 rating. The pros are that it is very flexible running from 8-11am and self service. The cons are no hot items are served; just breads, bagels, croissants, fruits, brie and cereal. Fresh squeezed juice is available daily but one glass per person. The rooms are comfortable with modern amenities including tv with many cable channels. As long as you are aware of what you will get for breakfast I would highly recommend this B&B.

This BnB was truly unique, completely renovated to the way it would have been in the 1800's. The common areas, such as the hallways, landing and sitting areas were undeniably beautiful and sumptuous. The bedroom we had was less impressive and a little tired. It was huge, however, and had a clawfoot bath in the room. We were lucky to have a bedroom at the back of the house, which meant that it was nice and quiet, being away from the busy road. It did mean that the room had quite bad light. Breakfast was a free for all, so I would advise going down early to take advantage of it. The location was excellent, ideally positioned in the latin quarter - we were in walking distance of all the major shops, bars and restaurants. The street (vue Ontario) was extremely vibrant and busy, I felt safe there at all times of the day and night. The BnB had a computer room with internet available for free any time of the day. Parking was available, but we had to pay extra for it. I would recommend the BnB.

Cannot say enough about this charming b&b. Clean, friendly, beautiful room, location and Michel and Denis the hosts extremely hospitable. If you're visiting Montreal and want something a little bit out of the ordinary, located in a real neighborhood...look no further.

We stayed at the Victorian Heritage in July and it was a great experience! Although there are quite a few B&B´s around, I think we picked one of the very best! This B&B offers very good value for money.

The location is very good at the quartier latin; everything is walking distance, and there is lots of nightlife around. There are lots of great restaurants in Montreal, and they are all easily reached from this location.

The best part about this B&B must be its Victorian style interior. From the outside you wouldn´t have guessed, but the interior is richly decorated, and when you step in you feel like you have entered a museum. The fun doesn´t stop there, as you will soon discover that your room has the same lovely decoration! We had a huge room with a clawtub in the room and a separate shower in the bathroom. Things don´t get much better!

Stayed on a Sat. and Sun. night; 2 things surprised me: the immaculate cleanliness of the entire place, and the quietness of the Judge Monk room facing Ontario St.
Pub Quartier Latin with outside tables is across the street along with a corner bar with a line outside to get in 'til around 2 AM. The house is made entirely of stone (not just faced) so no noise- windows closed, AC on.
There is a tub in the room and also a brand new looking bathroom with a shower.
Upon arrival Denis gives a tour and history and shows you how to go through the secret passage way to breakfast. You can park at the Library $9/day on weekends or free at certain times in front. Free use of 2 computers.
Breakfast is always breads and fruits, and varies with quiche, eggs, etc.
You can walk almost anywhere from this location. We used Tristou's walking map from the forum. Also the subway is close by.
If you stay in the old city, it is packed with tourists, but here you see real people -a very European feel to the area.
We stayed 2 nights here and 2 at Nelligan because I didn't know if I'd like it here, but next time I will stay only at Victorian Heritage.
Note: there is a number but no sign on the bldg., just an emblem "Manoir Monk"
