“Very pleasant and comfortable”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

I stayed here for 6 days to attend a conference at UQAM, just around the corner. The hotel is on a quiet street and it is much better than it looks from the outside. The room was clean, comfortable and with a well equipped kitchenette and opening windows. The staff were very friendly, helpful and fluently bilingual, and the modest price included a very good hot breakfast. Great location, right by Ste Catherine East and St.Denis, with lots of small restaurants and a good night life for those who want it, and a 15 minute stroll from Old Montreal.

My only complaint was that the free Wifi was slow and a bit unreliable and needs to be improved. Otherwise, I strongly recommend the hotel and would stay there again

I agree with others, this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel but this is probably the largest hotel room I've stayed in at this price point. The rooms are very clean with a huge bathroom and kitchenette. They even have some pots and pans, utensils, glassware, wine glasses, wine opener etc so you could really use the kitchenette if you wanted. Full length mirror was a plus. Rooms are very quiet.

Service at the front desk was fantastic. Very helpful, very nice, and bilingual. Breakfast was standard but was the same thing everyday.

The free WiFi worked very well in the lobby, but was hit or miss on the 5th floor. They also have computers in the lobby that you can use for free if you are having trouble with the WiFi.

The location is excellent. About a 2 minute walk to the Berri metro station, about a 4 minute walk to the university, and a 15 minute walk to the Old Town/Old Port. Lots of comments about the sketchiness of the neighborhood on TA, but we were two girls by ourselves and had no problems, never felt uncomfortable, never encountered the homeless/drug users that other reviews have mentioned. We stayed for 5 days and walked around every night.

We chose this place for it's location, 60 second walk to the Berri-UQAM Metro station where all the lines meet. Everything was excellent from the friendly check-in (English/French - no problem) to the spotlessly clean room with kitchenette. Air conditioning was effective and easy to control. Breakfast (included) had hot and cold selections. All the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Our room was remarkably quiet day and night. We particularly enjoyed the covered terrace on the top floor. A great place to get out of the hot sun or even the rain.
This is not a luxury hotel and shouldn't be compared to 4 or 5 star accommodations. It is however an amazing independent hotel that is clean, well run and friendly. Would highly recommend it as a base for exploring Montreal and we look forward to coming here again.

Green Features: Appreciated their environmental approach to optional daily towels and changing of bedding.

Location: the Best! Service: wonderful! Asa at the front desk was a Diva; so helpful and a personality that was always bright and sunny. Breakfast: hot and wholesome!
We were going strong every day: couple blocks to The Village, Latin Quarter, Park and Metro.
We walked to the Old Town, Harbor, and Chinatown from our Hotel!
Fireworks several nights were viewable from our room's window; coming from downtown celebrations that go on all summer!
We had a kitchenette; so we could store our goodies from the five fabulous markets that flourish around the City.
We were able to use the underground parking for our car all week; but I would fly in any take one of the many buses that regularly pass the Hotel next time.
What a fabulous week! If you are looking for a quick get away......Go! Stay here!!!!!

Room Tip: We asked Asa for a quiet room because we retire early; and there was NO street noise. In fact ther...

Green Features: They had recycle containers in our room. They had options for sheets and towel changes. They had real plates, cups, and silverware for the breakfast service.

Actually better than we expected after reading previous reviews. We expected the area to be seedy. Yes there were people sleeping in the doorways down the street but nobody bothered us. It was very close walking distance to all kinds of activities foods, and sights.
It is not close to the airport but it is in the downtown core which means it has a flat rate price determined by the city. (plus tip) For two of us with suitcases it was easier to take a taxi than the transit.
There is nothing special about the hotel. It is very functional and we thought the breakfast was very good and had lots of choice. English and French are spoken. Check out the coupons in the room before you go out to eat. There are some nearby discounts if you know about them first.
Like someone else said. Watch your ankles on the bed corners. Ouch.
There sure are a lot of English TV channels in Montreal. Just channel surfing.
What's wrong with the WiFi? It worked as good as any other hotels I have been in and much better than the cruise ship.
Nice full size soaker tub. Nice checkout time- 12:00 noon. Nice security. Magnetic pass key. Nice tourist info in French and English. Nice breakfast. Decent location. And a nice view out the window of the neighboring hotel's lineup of garbage containers!!!
Our room had a mini-kitchen. We did not need it but it made the room feel very large.

Room Tip: I booked on line on their website. They sent lots of information. I appreciated the transportation i...

Green Features: Hotel had a sign that you could use to ask that the bedding not be changed if you wish. Did not make any difference- they changed the bedding anyway. OK so I tried. Toilet ran all the time unless you jingled with the handle. Likely fixed now as I informed the desk.

The hotel is situated about 20 minutes walk from the train station. The room was OK and the cleaning was good. The exercise room in the hotel wasn't that good. You get coupons for the breakfast, the supply was ok, cereals, scrambled eggs, toast, etc. The in room wifi was a joke, you had to sit down in the lobby to get a descent speed.
