“A decent place to sleep”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

I've stayed here twice for the Osheaga long weekend, and there's never been an issue. It's a clean and comfortable roof over my head for sleeping and showering. It's conveniently located, steps from Berri-UQAM and the St Catherine's strip. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a cheap and convenient hotel.

We checked in at this hotel and noticed a men's underwear on top of the bathroom's door! We reported immediately to the front desk but they didn't believe us at first . That was so insulting and we asked them to move us to another room. When we moved to another room, we had a door lock problem and they had to move us to another room for the 3rd time! Don't ever stay at this hotel !

I've stayed here twice and not because I loved it, but because it was convenient and i'm a college kid on a budget. Montreal is two hours away from Burlington VT where I go to college so we come up to Montreal often to have fun weekends. This hotel is very convenient for anyone who is exploring Montreal it is just a couple blocks away from the bus. We travel on the greyhound and walk to the hotel. The hotel is also close to Berri-UQAM subway station, which many already mentioned in their reviews. A tip: The subway station has a weekend special. for 12 Canadian money you get a pass from Friday night to Sunday. You can get anywhere by subway. Overall, the hotel isn't that bad it has a continental breakfast which saves us having to go get breakfast. It has a tv in the room and a place to lay your head. Can't complain. Its not a five star, but it was okay. The prices are reasonable as well. Especially if your traveling with a group and you split the cost it saves you a whole lot!

Room Tip: Any room really, there isn't a room that is better than another.

The hotel is very close to the Berri-UQAM sobway station, and also to the bus station. For those who are going to Quebec City after visit Montreal, it's a good place. There is a lot of good restaurants close to the hotel, in the St Catherine street. And it's a short walking to downtown. The room was ok, but there was a kind of a party in the next room, and took a long time to the staff stop with that.

Room Tip: Don't chose a room in the front, because the street is very noisy.

We just stayed there for 3 day's and it was clean and suited it's purpose. A great location for everything. The metro was a 2 min walk, La Rhonde was a 10 min drive. Cj was so helpful for everything he found us free parking and great tips for our trip. We will go back, the beds were firm and need extra pillows. For a budget it was perfect.

Room Tip: Be polite and nice goes a longer way for someone to help you get what you want.

We were in Montreal for 2 days and wanted to visit all the places of "tourist importance" in those two days. Hence, we chose this hotel as it was close to the city centre. Location wise, this is a very good hotel. Almost all tourist attractions are in close distance of the hotel. Moreover, the metro is just 2 blocks away, which is convenient. We arrived late in the night and the hotel had the room reserved for us and our check-in was smooth. The pay-and-park in front of the hotel is convenient and a safe place to park your car while you stay at the hotel. Also, it isn't very convenient to drive around in Montreal for visiting the tourist attractions.

The room is, however, basic. While the room was clean and adequately stocked with toiletries, the beds weren't all that comfortable. Moreover, they do not provide coffee/tea in the rooms. For some one who needs his/her coffee, the first thing in the morning, this is not the hotel to stay. Also, there is not much choice in the menu for the breakfast. Just croissant and muffins. There should be at least a few more items to choose from.

I made a reservation for Hotel Elegant in Montreal for 2 nights as of Tuesday June 4th. I am aware this is a very economic hotel, but that did not matter to me as the plan was to rent a car and drive around the whole day and go there just to rest. The location was very important to us.. and it seemed this hotel was well located. It was an important small get away as my mother was visiting from abroad and we wanted to show her around.
We made the reservation through Booking.com and we were informed that the hotel will process a non-refundable charge for the first night. It did not bother us as we were 100% sure that we were going.
Unfortunately, my husband had a work related emergency and we could not leave the city as planned. I contacted Booking.com to request the cancellation and to see if it was possible to waive the charge due to this emergency. They had to contact the hotel to see if they approve. I received a call from Booking.com saying that they tried and that the hotel did not approved.
I work in the hospitality industry for 15 years and I never expected this answer. I work in a hotel myself and I am proud to say that we always do our best to accommodate and assist every guest need.. even if they cannot make it to the hotel. I know that hotels want to have the guaranteed payment.. but customers also matter.. you know....
Well, this is my story.. Make sure if you book here you do not have an emergency otherwise, the hotel will not consider assisting you with the cancellation.
