“GREAT B&B (but note location!)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2013

I want to start by noting something we didn't realize when we booked - it's within blocks of (and perhaps situated in to a degree) the Gay Village of Montreal. I am NOT saying this intending to be derogatory, but want to give other travelers a heads-up that Saint Catherine's Street (2 blocks away) is a party district and you have to walk through it to get to one of the metros. There are 2 metro stations within walking distance of the B&B, but the one we used was IN the party district. Not having realized this, we headed to this area on a Saturday night. We were surprised to say the least. That said, though, the neighborhood around the b&b felt very safe and we took some evening walks to enjoy the summer weather.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-July 2013. We took the ViaRail in from Toronto & then used the Metro to get around town (easy to use by the way!).
This was an AWESOME B&B. It was clean, comfortable, well decorated and clearly there is a tremendous amount of attention given to detail (i.e. the candy dish on the night stand, nice body wash in the shower....little things!) We stayed in the ground-floor level "blue room." It was newly decorated and such a cozy room; comfortable bed, too!. It had a great air conditioner, new TV with LOTS of stations, plenty of lamps. This room had a private bath.
The B&B has a private deck area, which we enjoyed on a Tuesday morning. So beautiful!
Breakfast was nothing short of gourmet - but, us - having a more average palate - still enjoyed what we considered a fancy meal! And the coffee was awesome! The beautiful music playing in the background in the morning was a nice touch!
The owner/manager, Alain, was wonderful - thoughtful, charming and funny! He greeted us upon our arrival and spent time reviewing a map with us, pointing out the highlights of the city. He also gave us a very helpful map and brochure of things to do. Alain also answered various questions we had about the city during our stay.
And, as a "childfree" couple - we appreciated that the B&B was peaceful!
All in all, this was a wonderful B&B - just note the location if that matters to you.

Room Tip: We appreciated having a room with a private bath.

A great find, this place. Beautifully decorated, extremely well located and well kept B&B. The owner is very friendly, the breakfasts great (catering well to me as a vegetarian) and room comfortable, quiet and very well designed, all rooms have their own individual character. Highly recommended.

Our stay at the Alexandre Logan was absolutely perfect!! The host was professional and very knowledgeable. The rooms were an appropriate size and extremely clean. Breakfast each morning was served in the dining room, where the host was prompt to greet and attend to the guests. Overall the house was immaculate. We had access to a full living room with a fridge, and a fantastic view from the terrace onto Rue Logan. A variety of restaurants are within walking distance, as well as a convenience store located across the street. To get around the city we used the Bixi station which is located very close to the B&B on Rue Alexandre. This is the first B&B I have stayed at, I did not know what to expect and I cannot wait to go back! I definitely recommend this B&B!

Simply the best B&B that we have stayed at I'm Montreal. Friendly and discrete host, lots of space to relax inside and out. Great and varied breakfasts with good coffee. Quiet and reasonably close to the 'Quartier des spectacles'.

We stayed her for a week for our honeymoon. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms were all set up differently. The first couple nights we stayed in a room with a wonderful antique tub that had a private sitting area and terrace. Our wonderful hosts invited us to change rooms as we wanted to experience more than just one of the historic rooms with period plaster work and carved wood mouldings. Although neither of us are morning people we leapt out of bed anxious to see what delicious breakfast we would find in the quaint dining room. Every day we had the freshest juices and fruits with eggs or quiche. The location is close to the subway making it very easy for us to sightsee and shop. We found a wonderful little Italian restaurant at the bottom of the street that was relaxing with decent food for a very reasonable price. We liked it so much we ate there 3 nights. There is a convenience store across the street that we bought drinks and snacks for late night cravings and we kept the drinks cold in the refrigerator in the common room. One day the weather was horrible almost monsoon conditions so we spent the day inside and it was very relaxing. I highly recommend this B&B as a hidden jewel in Montreal. We can't wait to get back!!!

We recently stayed at Alexandre Logan for a long weekend this April. The stay was lovely. The house is a beautiful restored Victorian, rooms are spacious and well-appointed, bed was extremely comfortable and a wonderful breakfast is served in the dining room. The location couldn't be better for the gay village as it is two blocks away, so close and yet so peaceful. The owner is a gentleman and helps you in any way possible. Highly recommended.

Best

Tom

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice. There are five rooms and only three have private baths. All of those...

I was a little skeptical as I walked to the door, but once inside I fell in love with the charming B&B. I stayed in room 3 (the one with the outdoor shower) and I immediately fell in love. Although it was too cold to enjoy the outdoor shower, the room was beautiful, clean and cozy. The porcelain tub in the room was just wonderful and I took advantage of it a few times. Besides the room (which I hardly wanted to leave), the host was equally as charming. Like the B&B itself, he was warm and welcoming. Finally, the breakfast in the morning was delightful. I cannot say enough of this place. If I have the opportunity to visit Montreal again, I will definitely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private bathroom. Room 3 is my favorite!
