I want to start by noting something we didn't realize when we booked - it's within blocks of (and perhaps situated in to a degree) the Gay Village of Montreal. I am NOT saying this intending to be derogatory, but want to give other travelers a heads-up that Saint Catherine's Street (2 blocks away) is a party district and you have to walk through it to get to one of the metros. There are 2 metro stations within walking distance of the B&B, but the one we used was IN the party district. Not having realized this, we headed to this area on a Saturday night. We were surprised to say the least. That said, though, the neighborhood around the b&b felt very safe and we took some evening walks to enjoy the summer weather.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-July 2013. We took the ViaRail in from Toronto & then used the Metro to get around town (easy to use by the way!).
This was an AWESOME B&B. It was clean, comfortable, well decorated and clearly there is a tremendous amount of attention given to detail (i.e. the candy dish on the night stand, nice body wash in the shower....little things!) We stayed in the ground-floor level "blue room." It was newly decorated and such a cozy room; comfortable bed, too!. It had a great air conditioner, new TV with LOTS of stations, plenty of lamps. This room had a private bath.
The B&B has a private deck area, which we enjoyed on a Tuesday morning. So beautiful!
Breakfast was nothing short of gourmet - but, us - having a more average palate - still enjoyed what we considered a fancy meal! And the coffee was awesome! The beautiful music playing in the background in the morning was a nice touch!
The owner/manager, Alain, was wonderful - thoughtful, charming and funny! He greeted us upon our arrival and spent time reviewing a map with us, pointing out the highlights of the city. He also gave us a very helpful map and brochure of things to do. Alain also answered various questions we had about the city during our stay.
And, as a "childfree" couple - we appreciated that the B&B was peaceful!
All in all, this was a wonderful B&B - just note the location if that matters to you.
