L'Imprevu Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #39 of 144 Montreal B&B and Inns

My husband and I stayed at L'Imprevu on our one night in Montreal before flying back to Vancouver. Had we known earlier of Rita and Dan's warm, welcoming and artistic home, we would have stayed longer. Our room was lovely, with art featured throughout the house. Staying close to the metro was a bonus and we appreciated the many ideas re. exploring Montreal that were suggested by Rita and Dan. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and the conversation with our hosts and the other guests was hard to leave...but we had a plane to catch! We will be sure to return.

If you really want to get a feel of what it is like to live in Montreal for a few days, this is your place. The location to get anywhere in the city couldn't be better-one metro stop 1 1/2 blocks away and another metro line is three blocks. Combine that with fun-loving congenial hosts, who have taken great care to pay attention to all of the little details and provide four star breakfasts(yum!) Rita and Dan were delightful. Comfortable, very clean brightly painted rooms. A really nice touch was the small refrigerator in our room stocked with water. The location is a quiet neighborhood that is home to the Atwater Market, the city's second largest seven day a week, year around fresh public market. Don't miss it. A feast for both eyes and stomachs, it is a great for bargain for lunch. Another huge plus to staying at L'Imprevu is the close access to bicycle rentals to explore miles of the Lachine Canal bicycle path, which brings you through miles and miles of wonderful parks, neighborhoods, and along the St. Lawrence River. Loved our stay with Rita & Dan!

My husband and I stayed at this cute bnb close to downtown Montreal and loved it! The hosts Rita and Dan were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and the close location of the bnb to 2 metro stops (st Henry And Lionel groulx) made it easy to get anywhere in Montreal quickly. We would highly recommend it and will definitely stay there again on our next trip!

Boy what a lovely place! At first I was expecting a sense intrusion because I read Kate A's review before we got here, but there was no feeling of that at all! Rita, her husband Dan, and their cat Nemo are magnificent hosts with personalities that have you starting your day with a smile. Rita's breakfasts were fantastic. Something different every day! She is also very accommodating to people's dietary preferences and restrictions which was great. Despite the fact that we weren't the only visitors staying at the B&B, we really enjoyed meeting other people and having laughs around the breakfast table with. The community-vibe that the B&B fosters really made this a fun and unique experience that I was at first nervous to dive into. 5 Circles! (stars?) PS. they have an amazing terrace out back that makes you feel like you're in some tropical location. Great for having some quiet drink with friends or a game of cards.

We stayed for 4 days and we loved it! The food was great, each day we had a different breakfast that was equally delicious. The place is clean and beds are comfortable. We felt very welcome! The place is cozy, Rita, Dan and Nemo :) were extremely helpful and friendly, and there is no sense of "intrusion" whatsoever. We loved the place, and honestly have nothing negative to say about it. It's quite close to downtown Montreal, and a walking distance from Atwater market. We will definitely return!

Though the location was great and the room was clean, we felt like we were staying in a stranger's house as opposed to a bed and breakfast. At times we felt like we were intruding. Breakfast was wonderful, but we ended up cutting our stay short because we just didn't feel comfortable.

I just lucked upon L'Imprevu, from a recommendation of another bed & breakfast that was already full. What luck! Rita and Daniel, the owners, are incredibly warm and very kid friendly. Rita makes the most sumptuous breakfasts I have ever had the joy to eat, and all from ingredients bought from the Atwater farmer's market near their home. The B&B backs onto a beautiful, wooded bike/walking trail that leads down to pathways on the canal and then up into downtown. Rita will lend you bikes or you can walk. There is also a Metro stop one block away which means easy access to the entire city. She charged me $80 Canadian, though I think there is an extra per person charge as well. I had an absolutely lovely stay and would recommend the place to anyone! Their website is [www.imprevu.org].
