La Loggia Art & Breakfast

What a fantastic find La Loggia was. Being very centrally located, it's an easy walk to the historic area of Montreal and close to the Metro to venture further afield. The area has a lot of good restaurants to choose from and is very safe so we felt comfortable wandering around even late at night. With their attentive but low key approach, our hosts Rob and Joel and their friend Guy made us feel like we were staying with old friends rather than new acquaintances and we felt very relaxed and at home here. We enjoyed our evening chats in their cosy courtyard area out the back with its lovingly tendered plants and sculptures (created by Joel), which was also where a delicious breakfast was served each morning. We stayed in Room 1, which was a reasonable sized room with a private bathroom, extra comfy King size bed and free in room WiFi. It is situated at the front of the B & B facing the street, with large windows so the room was bathed in sunshine. It was also quiet at night which is good if you are a light sleeper. If you travelling by car, Rob will show you where you can park in a nearby street for free. Great hosts and would love to stay here again one day.

Rob's introduction on our arrival really set the tone. Although we were very early the room was ready and Rob made us feel at home. His guide to local restaraunts was spot on and we tried 3 of them, all very different and all excellent. The location is close to both Metro and the main bus terminus but it was easy to walk to most places of interest. Breakfast was very good. We would definitely stay here again.

The location was superb, close to St. Catherine Ave. and the Metro. The Metro is very easy (even though the Metro pass box would not accept my US credit card) and it took me within a block of the Botanical Gardens with their fabulous topiaries (which Rob & Joel suggested). The B&B was very comfortable with several delicious breakfast options. A great way to start your day. Rob was also there to give you any information you needed to start your adventures that day. What gracious hosts.

Couldn't give this place a better review - it's so beautiful, and Rob and Joel are very welcoming and happy to give recommendations and chat, or will leave guests to do their own thing as well. I think that's something they have a great balance of. Bed was so comfy I could hardly get out of it! Breakfast was so tasty and everything was very fresh. Perfect location, too.

Rob couldn't have been more helpful during the planning stages of our vacation and was friendly and helpful the whole time we were there. He helped us with parking our car in a safe, nearby area. He gave us good advice on things to do, places to eat and how to get around the city. Breakfasts were healthy, fresh and tasty, with plenty of choices. They are clearly ecologically mindful and give guests options in levels of housekeeping services.

Room Tip: If you aren't comfortable with stairs, ask for a first floor room. If you have the room that con...

We cant say anything else about this place that hasn't already been said.It is a lovely place to stay whilst exploring Montreal Just a block from the St Catherines area it is ideally situated for all the bars and restaurants and shops. The hosts Joel and Rob could not have made our stay more pleasant the rooms are a delight and the small garden breakfast area is a great place to "fill up" before a day out.The rooms are all different and very comfortably furnished and the addition of Joels sculptures make them quite unique.
We certainly will stay here again when next we visit Montreal

What a wonderful find! My daughter (11) and I stayed at La Loggia for 4 nights this past August. Rob and Joel were the perfect hosts and made us both feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We might have completely missed the highlight of our trip, the Mosaiculture living sculpture exhibit at Jardin Botanique, if it hadn't been for Rob and Joel. They even passed along free admission tickets! Great central location, perfect for our bike excursions throughout the city (we didn't use our car the entire time). It was convenient to be able to drop off our bikes in the locked back patio and not have to worry about them. Rob led us directly to nearby street parking when we arrived and helped us parse the parking regulations. There is so much wonderful artwork throughout the B&B, lots of Joel's sculptures and paintings from other artists. The breakfast was absolutely perfect: fruits, cheeses, breads, and more all with an eye toward quality, local and organic. Food was all served out on the inviting back patio/garden where there was always of great company and conversation. Lots of nice little touches throughout the B&B including tour books/maps, shared fridge and kitchenware. Great neighborhood with lots of restaurants, very close to a bike path. We stayed in the "Cottage Room" which was downstairs and shared a bathroom with the guests in the "Green Room". For those who are concerned, these two downstairs rooms don't really have a view (the short window is situated right at street level) but we could have cared less. My daughter and I fell in love with Montreal and are excited to return to Rob and Joel's wonderful little slice of paradise to do more exploring!

Room Tip: Choose the Cottage Room or Green Room for a bargain (they are located on the lower level, partially...
